Angkor Village is a charming wooden hotel designed by a couple of Khmer and French architects. There are 18 wooden houses with fan and air-conditioning. It also has a swimming pool, garden, and restaurant. All rooms have hot water, and mini bar.
We spent very little time in the room but it was much nicer than expected. Make sure to inquire about cots for any more than two people, otherwise they will sleep on the floor!
The food at the restaurant was fair, but after the adrenaline and emotional ride you''ve been on, you really don''t think about food so much.
We were lucky enough to have a visitor for dinner as we dined in the outdoor restaurant: A large rat fell from the roof onto a plant right behind us and was afraid to jump off! He remained there for about half an hour and was entertainment for many people that were eating near us. I ,finally, in making sure to follow the local Buddhist belief to not harm any living thing, lowered the plant leaf near the ground to let him scurry off into the darkness!
