Best Things Nearby:

Golf on the grounds and numerous courses within 15-50 miles. Great day trips to John Day Fossil beds, scenic byways lined with forests, waterfalls, lava beds and great scenery. 90 miles away is Crater, Lake very easily accessible and definitely worth the drive. Views of Mt Jefferson, Three Sisters and other dormant volcanoes are abundant.

Bend, Oregon - 16 miles away, has an interesting downtown with several restaurants and unique boutique-type shops.

Best Things About the Resort:
Location, decoration of unit, fully equipped kitchen, including a gas grill on the patio. It had a fireplace, wet bar, window seat, large dining room with amazing decor. Deer wandered around the property without fear and were such a nice treat to see. Golf nearby, a full sports facility and onsite activities such as biking also added to the experience.

Resort Experience:

The unit was beautifully decorated, very spacious and had every convenience necessary to enjoy the week. We had a balcony off the living/dining room as well as a balcony off the second-story master bedroom, both of which overlooked the canyon and river. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. The grounds were wonderful, and walking around them was a pleasure.

After activity packed days, we enjoyed cooking in and enjoying the views and serenity of the place. Fresh salmon was available at the grocery store in Redmond, a few miles away. The onsite restaurant was good, and following a wonderful meal, made a special dessert for our friend's birthday.

My husband and his pal played golf daily at various courses, including Aspen Lakes, with red dirt bunkers and views of the volcanic peaks dotting the area. The Eagle Crest Ridge course was also on his list, and he enjoyed it as well. There is an 18-hole "putting course" that is not to be missed. Even those of us who don't play golf had fun trying our hand. (It’s like an upgraded and unique miniature course.)

There is nothing to complain about. This exchange was one of the best we've had - and we thought the others were great.

Best Things Nearby:
The High Desert Museum, the Metolius River, Bend/Redmond, and Mt. Bachelor

Best Things About the Resort:
The unit had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There was a gas fireplace in the living room and a DVD/VCR and TV in both the living room and upstairs in the master bath. They even had dish and laundry soap available. The area is absolutely beautiful, and we will definitely be back.

Resort Experience:
They also had a local spa, so we indulged in massages, which was sooooo wonderful. The resort was very quiet and well maintained. We had dinner at one of the resort restaurants, which was very nice but a little pricey. They had a playground directly across from our condo unit, which was great for our 4-year-old. We only had to walk to one of the recreation centers, which also had a mini store in case we needed anything. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this place to all!

Best Things Nearby:
Sisters, Mt. Bachelor, road to Portland, and the fantastic waterfall, Multnomah, on the way.

Best Things About the Resort:
Outdoor pools were warm, even in November.
Tanning beds
Comfortable place with plenty to do.

Resort Experience:
The two-bedroom unit was very nice, with a large picture window and fireplace in the living room. We saw deer run by numerous times. The resort is large, friendly, and offers activities. Indoor tennis courts, tanning beds, and indoor basketball were all nice. My teenage sons would have loved them; however, they did not come with us. This was a very nice place with beautiful views of snow-topped mountains as you drive around. The trail walk was also nice along the river.

Best Things Nearby:
While at Eagle Crest, we went to the top of Mt Bachelor in a ski lift and had a great gourmet lunch at an Italian restaurant. The mountain had areas with 10 foot of snow in some areas, however skiing was shut down. We enjoyed the sites and views from the lodge.

We took a train ride on the Crooked River. It was great - they had a horseback train robbery and a great pot roast dinner.

We drove up Mt Hood to the Timberline Lodge and had a wonderful lunch; they were still skiing and had about 10 feet of snow in some areas. The lodge was built by the WPA and the detail is really something considering that most of the workers that built the Lodge had no experience and had to be taught to trades. The view from the lodge is magnificent.

We visited an old cowboy town in Sisters. It was different, just like the old wild west; we ate in Bronco Billy’s Tavern, an original tavern that Bronco Billy used to go to.

We then headed for Klamath Falls and went to Crater Lake for two days. On the first day we rode around the Rim and visited the Lodge for lunch. We were not disappointed - it was everything that we thought it could be.

On the second day at Crater Lake we took the boat ride on the Lake. It is quite a hike to get to the boat - a 750-foot drop on a dirt trail. It was very steep, but we took our time and did fine. The boat ride is in an open boat that holds 48 people. We are glad that we did it. The Lake is about 1800 feet deep and the color changes between green/blue along the shore to a vivid blue and a purple/blue color in the real deep areas. All due to the light refraction in varying depths of water, the water is like a mirror.

We went on a paddleboat ride on Klamath Lake for brunch and saw some white pelicans that are in the area. They look like swans with large pink bills, different from the Florida pelicans.

Fishing is a big thing in this area - they catch large trout on the lake. The average size is 8 pounds, running up to close to 20 pounds.

When then went to Grant’s Pass we and went on the Hellgate Jet boat ride on the Rogue River. It goes along the river at a high speed in the rapids for three hours. Do not miss this - it is great and well narrated.

Our trip then headed to the Oregon coast, then up to Florence, Oregon, then to Otter Rock for a week.

Best Things About the Resort:
The landscaping and the golf course are impeccable. They have a few pools on site with adequate chaise lounges. One of the pools is located next to the sports center and also has a small outdoor grill area that you can purchase hamburgers, hot dogs, and other goodies. At the sports center is a small store that is well stocked with necessities and beer, wine and ice cream. We did not use the sports center; however, it was well equipped. The walking trail along the Deschutes River is very nice and picturesque. The trails are well marked. The river could be good for fishing.

The resort has scheduled activities every day, but we did not use them. You may rent three-wheel cruising bikes and trail bikes - quite a few families rent them to tour the paved path around the golf course, and it is common to see deer and wildlife. The resort has a restaurant on site that is open in the evening. They also have an Inn Café located next to the check in office that is open for breakfast and lunch until 7:00 PM. The Inn also has a gift shop. A concierge is available to help you on things to do in the area. Eagle Crest does not push purchasing timeshares - we did not receive any phone calls or incentive packages regarding timeshares. The concierge will try to line up a tour of the facility, which we declined; this may have led to a timeshare pitch.

Resort Experience:
The unit was a two-bedroom townhouse.

The first floor has a bedroom with two twin beds, a good-sized closet and a dresser with plenty of storage space. The bedroom is located in the front of the townhouse with a window facing the front.

The first-floor bathroom is laid out with two small rooms. The first room has a stacked washer/dryer and lavatory with a nice big mirror and cabinets located below the lavatory, and the bathroom has a full-size tub and toilet.

The kitchen, dining area and living area are in an open floor plan with sloped ceilings in the living area.

The kitchen area has a full-size refrigerator with icemaker, full-size dishwasher, and full-size range and large built-in microwave. A center island between the kitchen and dining room has four stools located towards the dining area side.

The dining area is large with a large table and chairs; the dining area also has a nice view of the golf course.

The living room is very large, with windows facing the golf course, gas fireplace, two large imitation leather chairs, a small coffee table and large coffee table and end tables. The fireplace has built in cabinets on either side.

Between the living and dining room is a door leading out to a rear deck with a gas grill, table and four chairs. The deck is facing the golf course. Due to their location, both the upper and lower decks have a natural wind barrier.

The second floor has a large bedroom with a king-size bed set on an angle with a shelf behind it with reading lights; a door leads out to a deck facing the golf course. A table and four chairs are on the deck.

A large Jacuzzi and large walk-in shower are located on a mezzanine level in the bedroom. Two lavatories, each with cabinets below, is a nice touch for his and hers. The toilet is in a small room next to the lavatories. The Jacuzzi area has large skylights with sunscreens.

The air conditioning on the second floor is not adequate for the heat gain from the large skylights. We kept the drapes closed during the day and used a fan that was stored in the walk-in closet on the second floor.

The air-conditioning on the first floor is overpowering - too much air on the first floor, not enough on the second floor.

The unit is not new; however, it is well kept other than stains on the carpet.

Best Things About the Resort:
It is a great location with lots of activities. The rooms are very nice.

Resort Experience:
We knew as soon as we walked in the unit that is was nice. The entry is rock tile and very nice. The downstairs has one bedroom and it had two twin beds, which was perfect for our two daughters to share. There is also a bathroom with a washer and dryer, living room, dining room, and kitchen downstairs. The kitchen is very well equipped; it even has a waffle maker, coffee maker, coffee grinder, and popcorn popper. The living room couch could pull out to a bed if we had needed that and it had a big window seat to enjoy the view from. Off the living and dining room was a deck that included a gas grill and deck chairs and table. We had a spectacular view of the Deschutes River. Upstairs was the master suite. We had a nice queen bed, walk in closet, jacuzzi tub, shower and balcony. The unit is very spacious and well maintained.

We enjoyed using the indoor pool and the outdoor pool and the sports centers. We walked by the pond and fed the ducks and Canadian geese. And we saw deer on three different days.
