Lawrence Welk Resort Villas

Best Things Nearby:
Esondido is located about 45 miles North of San Diego. The Wild Animal Park is right in Escondido. We had a wonderful time on the monorail tour. Do this either in the early morning or late afternoon, when the weather is cooler and the animals are out. In San Diego, we loved Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, and Old Town. We also spent a day in La Jolla which is very pretty.

Best Things About the Resort:
The timeshare appeals to all ages. The staff is very friendly, and there are plenty of activites. The numerous pools were good size and clean. Each area of the resort also has a separate activities center. The two golf courses were very nice. The executive course welcomed children. We also really enjoyed the onsite restaurant, Mr. W's, and the Broadway-style theater.

Resort Experience:
The very large two bedroom, two bath units are in the process of being renovated. Although our unit had not yet been remodeled, we found it clean and spacious. The bathrooms were huge, but did not have a whirpool tub. The kitchen appliances were older but functional.

We had a wonderful view of the mountains from our balcony, where we enjoyed eating breakfast each morning. Many folks might worry that this resort caters to seniors. Although we did see quite a few older couples, there were also plenty of families with young children. The resort seemed to welcome the kids by having special activites, special pricing for theater seats, deals on golf, etc.

Overall, we had a wonderful vacation at this resort, and would not hesitate to return.

Best Things Nearby:
San Diego is less than 45 minutes away, LA and Palm Springs took 1.5 hours on the highway. Wild Animal Park in Escondido is a must see.

Best Things About the Resort:

Resort Experience:
The resort has large and spacious units. The bathrooms are oversized. The beds were very comfortable. The full size kitchen had all of the utensils we needed. There are grills which are for your use as well.

The resort has multiple pools, spas, exercise facilities. We took advantage of these daily. It has two golf courses, a clubhouse and it includes the nostalgia of the Lawrence Welk Theater. The premises has some specialty shops, a mini-market (we preferred the four-mile drive to the local grocery store), and a gas station.

Although this resort is inland and just outside of the major cities, it has easy access to so many spots. Of course, if you want to merely relax, just stay at the resort and relax by the pool. Do check with the concierge for day trips the resort offers this is a good alternative if you do not want to drive.

Overall this was a very enjoyable vacation spot.

Best Things Nearby:
Close to major highways that lead to Hollywood, Los Angeles, or San Diego. But far away enough to escape the southern California traffic.

Best Things About the Resort:
The villas are located within the golf course. Each cluster of villas has its own secured pool and hot tub area. The units are huge and well equipped.

Resort Experience:
This resort was a pleasure to deal with even before we ever got there. We contacted the resort to see if our friends could rent a unit near us. They contacted us immediately stating that it would be their pleasure. We were a group of four adults and seven children. The resort personnel were most wonderful. This was my husband's first golf experience and now he's hooked. The pool areas were clean and individually secured, which allowed us the opportunity to relax. The grounds were beautiful and set beneath a mountain. The two-bedroom units were about 1300 square feet and had three sliding doors leading to the patio overlooking the golf fairway. I could live there when I retire!!!

The two bedroom villa was huge. Both the master suite and the additional bedroom (two single beds) led to the patio. The living room area was open and spacious. The patio led directly to the golf greens. Both bathrooms were huge and well-equipped. It would be a perfect size unit as a retirement condo.
