Great Beach Location

Great Beach Location

The Surf Club Resort, aka Surf Club of Marco, is located right on the beach, which is a great plus since almost all beaches on Marco Island are private. The ocean temperature here is definitely below what one would get in the Florida sout-east - clearly, the Golf Stream cannot reach here :-) Weather was great with temperatures in the low 80s, one cloudy day otherwise sunny.

The outdoor pool is heated and thus allows for late swimming after the air temperatures cool off. It is open till 10 PM.

The 2-bedroom suite is very spacious with a separate kitchen, dining, and living room area. The kitchen was fully equipped, however, only empty salt and pepper dispensers provided. The $2 set from Wal-Mart fixed that. The units do not have their own washer and dryer. There is a room with those on each floor. Trash goes to trash room's chute, which is also on each floor.

Our top-floor corner unit did not have the jacuzzi. One bath was shower only and the other had a regular tub. The corner uits have one tiny balcony facing the ocean and a large one facing sideways (south in our case). There is a Hilton Hotel to the south with a utility building with huge A/C fans on the roof, which were constantly clicking on and off and were very noisy. If you close the balcony doors and have your own A/C on, not a big deal. With us preferring the natural ventilation, it was a little annoying.

The resort does not provide cribs / play pens for kids. They put us in touch with a rental place though. Aside for the additional $50 payment, it was worry free - the crib was waiting for us and we left it there.

The resort personnel was 50/50. The lady at the front desk was very pleasant to deal with and very helpful. The man on the other hand was not so outgoing. He did what asked for but that was about it.

Everything was clean and in working order, even though one could tell not exactly new. The balcony doors could definitely used a bit of lubrication. The decor was nice, we especially liked the Florida-themed paintings on the walls and the animal charts in rooms and public areas. Also, after first being introduced to the outside of the building (for obvious reasons), the interior was a very nice surprise. Not that the exterior is bad, the interior was simply that much better.

We did not use the tennis courts but they looked very well maintained. We did use the provided gas grills and those could definitely use some maintenance - it was a bit of a challenge to get them going and only some burners worked.

We would definitely return to this resort, even though we would not dwell on it and be also willing to try alternatives.

Best Things Nearby:
As part of the Hilton Grand Vacations Club, guests at the Surf Club are able to use the amenities of the Hilton Hotel situated next door. Lots of restaurants and shops located within a short walk.

Best Things About the Resort:
Everything - located directly on a long white sand beach, impeccably furnished, friendly staff, nice pool area with hot tub.

Resort Experience:
Located directly on a gently shelving white sandy beach encrusted with shells, this is a haven of pure delight. We sat on the beach watching dolphins playing in the sea with the sun setting - pure heaven. Many owners here return year after year, and I can understand why. We would definitely return to this resort, and its status as a Resort of International Distinction should really be Gold Crown in my opinion.

Best Things Nearby:
The beach! Couldn't ask for a better view or location. Also nearby to many restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, etc. Great location for families.

Best Things About the Resort:
The location! We were right on the beach. Also, the view we had was wonderful. If you are lucky to have an ocean view, you have a great big balcony that opens up not only from your family room, but from the master bedroom as well. They have some tables, chairs, and two chaise lounges out on the balcony. Great place to watch sunsets or lightning storms at night!

Resort Experience:
We had a very nice, big, two-bedroom unit. It had a full kitchen that pretty much had everything we needed. The master bedroom had a king-size bed in it, as well as a private bath and a screened-in door that led out to the balcony. The second bedroom had two twin beds and a bathroom right next to it. The dining room had a full-size table and chairs and a bar that some high bar chairs to sit in. The family room had a TV/VCR and a screened door that lead to the balcony. The only thing that would have been nice was a washer and dryer. They do have them on site and you can use them for a charge, but it would have been nice to have in the unit itself just to dry towels, etc.

The pool is nothing fancy, but it met our needs just fine and always has lots of families out there. They have two outdoor gas grills that guests can use and they provide the lighters for you. By the grills, they have an eating area that is like a bar. They have a giftshop on site, game room with books and games, etc.

The staff was very friendly and helped recommend local restaurants for us to try out.

The outside of the resort definetely needed a face-lift and some new paint, etc. However, I would recommend this resort for a family vacation.

Sanibelle Island.

Great restaurants!
Naples.

Best Things About the Resort:
The Surf Club of Marco is blessed with a prime beachfront location on Marco Island. There was a lovely view of the Gulf of Mexico from the balcony. The pool and whirlpool were warm and also had a gulf view.

Resort Experience:
We stayed on the seventh floor in a two bedroom unit. The unit itself faced the street, but the wrap-around balcony had a gulf view. Each bedroom had its own bathroom and privacy. The master bedroom had a king-size bed with a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The second bedroom had two twin-size beds, which we made into a king-size bed for the week. The kitchen was fairly small but had adequate dining area. The living room and each bedroom had a TV. The resort had a small gift shop off the lobby, and we found quite a few souveniors to take home from there.
