Our two-bedroom condo was on the top floor/end of the building in the high-rise section of the resort. There were units around the courtyard and pool area that were only two or three stories high. Because of our location, we had amazing views of the Gulf.

The main area of the unit was a large rectangle, so you could see straight through from the kitchen, dining area, living room, and finally, the screened-in balcony. The kitchen was roomy and included an island for extra counter space. Near the entrance, there was a small closet containing a washer/dryer unit.

Since our unit was on the end of the building, we had a window in the dining area. Units in the center of the building had a large mirror on this wall.

The living area had a sleep sofa, two rather uncomfortable chairs, and a large TV. The sliding doors to the porch could be pushed completely back to allow the wonderful ocean breezes to cool the rooms.

Bedroom #2 had twin beds but no TV. The bathroom was standard, but extremely clean.

The master bedroom had a king bed, TV armoire, six-drawer dresser, ceiling fan, and access to the screened porch. The bathroom was roomy and had a standard-size tub, but with jets.

The colors and patterns in the condo gave a tropical feel. Everything seemed new and well-cared-for.

One warning... don't wait till check-out time to try to get an elevator or luggage cart. Load your car the night before or during the night. I've never seen such a mad house. We waited 30 minutes for an elevator.

The resort had a great organized activity program for children. The pool was crystal-clear. Gas grills were in the courtyard, as was a small lunch grill/snack bar with daily specials. One negative was that the beach chairs and umbrellas were VERY expensive. Two chairs, one umbrella, one week - $90. I don't believe this operation was owned by the resort, though.

We would go back in a heartbeat ANYTIME. This resort deserves the Gold Crown (plus some!).

Best Things Nearby:
Everglades. Fort Meyers. Mini-golf.

Best Things About the Resort:
It was right on the Gulf of Mexico. The views were great.

Resort Experience:
The resort is older. The furnishings showed some wear. It was slightly smaller than other Gold Crown resorts we have stayed at. They charge for everything! Towel deposit was the one that I couldn't believe! Tennis equipment, everything basically, had a deposit on it. You did get your deposit back when things were returned, but it was something we were not used to. Each room has a view of the Gulf and they all have a balcony. All in all, I would go back. Although my son thought it was too quiet. Not much night life here!!

Eagles Nest is a great resort located on the beach. The resort has a lot of activities for children. The pool and courtyard area are beautiful and a wonderful place to socialize.
