The Grand Hotel Giessbach is not only in a great location, but it is a destination in itself. The rooms start at 130 Swiss Francs for a single and 170 for a double. One has a choice of rooms that face the forest, the waterfall, or the lake. All rooms come with direct dial telephone, WC, and showers or baths. While the hotel is equipped with all the conveniences you would expect to find in a modern 5-star hotel, the decor throughout the hotel reflects the early part of the last century. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. It's a nice touch in the evening when the maids turn down your bed and leave a delicious piece of Swiss chocolate on your pillow.
One last note: If you are a light sleeper do not ask for a room facing the falls. The ever-present sound of the cascading falls is part of the charm of those rooms!
The hotel opens mid-April to mid-October.
