Fairfield Harbor is about 10 minutes from New Bern. The property fronts Broad Creek and has a marina and several ponds. The Windjammer Villas are single story structures of four units. Most amenities are located in or around the recreation building--an indoor pool and hot tub, outdoor pool, playground, putt-putt golf, game, and weight rooms. The heated indoor pool is fairly sized, but seating space is limited. The large outdoor pool is not heated but is nicely landscaped with lots of chairs and tables. There were two online computers, and 30 minutes of Internet use was $1.50.
There are two golf courses and sailboat cruises are available from the marina. The activities are somewhat limited, but it was off-season. My only negatives are that a store was not on-site and that the restaurant was closed and has been closed about 2 years. If you forgot something or wanted to eat out you had to drive 6 miles to a store, or back to New Bern for a meal. The restaurant is scheduled to reopen during the winter of 2006. Our two bedroom had a few cosmetic issues, but is nicely furnished. With a coastal flair, the unit is decorated with teals and dusty rose--silk arrangements and pictures through out the unit.
The resort provided a nice starter kit of paper towels, trash bags, laundry detergent, etc. Lots of soft, thick towels. A ceramic tile foyer opens directly into the kitchen, dining, and living room areas. To the left, a small tiled hallway contains a large utility closet and entry to the second bedroom and bath. Entry to the master bedroom and bath is from the living room. The ceramic tile L-shaped kitchen is nice, and a breakfast bar separates it from the dining/living area. It included new appliances, service for eight, plenty of gadgets, and cookware. The dining table was rattan-type, with four chairs. Two additional chairs are available. The living room had sofa, love seat, coffee table, entertainment center with TV, VCR, DVD, stereo, and safe. Sliding doors open to a screened porch and deck. They overlook a pond and have a table with four chairs—the unit made both basically private—very nice for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning or watching the sun set in the afternoon. The master bedroom has a queen bed, closet, TV w/ VCR, and an upholstered chair. The bed has built-in storage areas—there are no nightstands. Sliding doors open to the porch. The master bath is huge with double sinks & a sit-down vanity area, Jacuzzi tub with skylight. Tub and toilet in separate room. The second bedroom has two twin beds, a night stand, a dresser with TV, and a closet. The second bath has full-sized tub/shower, single sink, and toilet. It also has a sliding door that when opened connects to the master bath. The utility closet contains a mop, full-sized washer and dryer, vacuum, iron, and ironing board.

There are activities offered that you can participate in or not. The welcome social on Monday afternoon featured a hot dog roast with the fixings, beverages, door prizes, etc. There is also an ice cream social during the week.
