Xanadu Resort

This resort in right on the beach south of the town of San Pedro. San Pedro is a town on the island of Ambergris Caye. The resort is a nice walk from town but a short bike ride using the bikes provided by the resort. The resort is not very big but includes around six buildings, with multiple rooms in each building. I stayed in a loft suite, which includes room for four. The actual room I stayed in had two floors as well as two bathrooms. The bad thing about Ambergris Caye is that they have a slight problem with water supply, and I had a little trouble when I was taking showers. I'm pretty sure that since I stayed at the Xanadu Resort, the island has fixed their water problem with a water tower.
They're are many places to eat in San Pedro and spread out through the island, so you should have no trouble finding places to eat.

These are thatched-roof condos. My unit was a one-bedroom with a living room, kitchen (with all sorts of cooking utensils and appliances), and a large bathroom, equipped with air-conditioning and cable TV. It was clean and relaxing, with a front deck.

Beautiful, nicely furnished apartments. All have kitchens, I believe. Office staff is very helpful, but the office closes at 6pm. Free bicycles, free transfers to/from the airport. Many of the rooms offer great views to the east. Kudos to Lupe, who runs the desk and who seems to be able to arrange anything at the best price. Nice pool. Grill is available. Property is a short bike ride to town, but far enough away to be comfortable. Beds could use box springs.

Our friend stayed at this resort. They had a very nice suite with full kitchen, and the hotel had a nice pool. I'm not sure what constitutes a "resort" since there was no hotel restaurant or bar. However, this was a very relaxing hotel away from the activity and surrounded by nicer beaches.
