Best Things Nearby:
The best things nearby! The beach is across the street (two-lane road) and through an access area. Not a long walk at all. There is a grocery store very close by. Restaurants all around, and the great thing is that they are mostly locally owned. Not many chain restaurants at all, which we love! Close to Sarasota, so you have G-Wiz science museum, the zoo, movies, putt-putt courses, dog track, fishing, parasailing, and many more water activities. The G-Wiz museum was great and was only $5.00 to get in. Very good value. There are some great restaurants too. The Salty Dog and the Rod & Reel Fishing Pier in Anna Island were our favorites.

Best Things About the Resort:
The units! Wow... 1600 square feet! Huge! We had one of the end units, 205, which had a balcony that stretched the length of the unit, one in the back and also one in the front that had a view of the ocean. We watched every sunset from it! The location is good! The lagoon was fun, and they have two manatees that come around every afternoon.

Resort Experience:
The units were great! Huge living room, with big master bedroom with garden tub, walk-in shower, and double sink area with large mirrors. Fully stocked kitchen, with washer and dryer, sweeper, etc. The balcony has a table and chairs for evening dinners, or even in the morning, that overlooks the bay. The resort has a small swimming pool, but the resort has only 15 units in the whole complex. The whirlpool wasn't working while we were there, but it was a warmer temperature. They have bicycles, fishing poles and buckets, pool toys, and sand toys that you can use for free. They also have videotapes and board games that you can check out from the main office. They also have a big rack of excursion pamphlets that you can thumb through. The staff was great about offering suggestions.

I would have liked to see: Internet access - no business center. You had to go to the local library (5 miles away) and pay to use the internet ($3.00 for 30 min). Also, there are no planned activities for kids. No concierge service, and their office closes before 5pm each night. We had issues with our microwave, and it took them 2 days to get us a new one. Small staff (I think only three people that I saw), so it was harder to get things done.

Best Things Nearby:
St. Armand's shopping, Lido Beach, Venice

Best Things About the Resort:
There are only 15 units, so you can always get a chair by the pool!

Resort Experience:
I can certainly understand why this is a Gold Crown resort. It's huge and is extremely clean and well-kept. Each car has its own parking space. They provide beach chairs, beach towels, and umbrellas to take to the beach. There are also bikes to ride along the roads. My husband and dad went golfing, so my mother and I took the bus to St. Armand's. It picks you up right across the street from the unit. Because of traffic, it's not very reliable, but we only had to wait 10 minutes to get it. The room has a patio overlooking the pool, and there's another smaller patio by the kitchen. There is a shopping center within walking distance that has a food store and some other lovely shops. You'll have a great time here and want to return!

Best Things Nearby:
The resort is located on the main road between the Gulf of Mexico and the bay. Longboat Key is an upscale town near St. Armand's Circle with several restaurants and shopping.

Best Things About the Resort:
The units are spacious and clean. Modern furnishings combined with a large balcony make this a comfortable home away from home.

Resort Experience:
The Longboat Bay Club is located across a busy street from the Gulf of Mexico. It is not recommended that children cross unattended. However, once you cross to the gulf side, it is a 40-foot walk to a lovely white-sand beach. The beach access is directly in front of the resort. The resort is situated on the bay, which makes for a nice view of the water and wildlife. There are several slips for boats and a pier for fishing (rods and reels are provided free of charge by the resort). There is a smallish pool and nice-sized fenced-in playground area. The resort also offers complimentary tennis (with racquets) and basketball. Brand-new bikes are also available for the guests for free. Chairs and umbrellas are available any time. There are enough amenities and sports to keep teenagers, children, and adults occupied.

The units are exceptionally nice. Very large living areas and dining areas combine to keep it light and airy. The master bedroom offers a large bathroom and windows with a door leading to the balcony overlooking the bay. The second bathroom has a large stall shower. There are abundant closets throughout the unit. A stackable washer/dryer in the kitchen is convenient.

The staff was very nice, offering any information needed. They provide free games, puzzles, books, and videos for borrowing.

There are an abundance of restaurants within driving distance, particularly close and noted are Dry Docks and Columbias.

I would recommend this resort without hesitation. The only drawback is the street between it and the gulf.

Best Things About the Resort:
This is a wonderful, very spacious resort. It's completely equipped with a much better assortment of kitchenware than most resorts. I could have prepared Thanksgiving dinner there easily!! Lots of things were furnished with no charge, like beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, etc.

Resort Experience:
The strange thing about this resort is that it is rated a Gold Crown, yet there were NO resort sponsored activities---not even donut day or a mid week towel exchange. Very unusual
