Due to a wrong turn and darkness falling quickly, we were forced to stop in Havelock – the green lip mussel capital! Blue Moon is a new backpackers there with refurbishment still ongoing (December 2003), but the owners were refreshingly enthusiastic and un-cynical. They did not appear to mind us arriving at 10pm and offered to make us a cup of tea straight away. The place was spotless with good quality linen. Would highly recommend it.
