Best Things Nearby:
Wasaga Beach, Scenic Caves Tour, horseback riding

Best Things About the Resort:
Beautifully decorated and furnished room (stainless-steel appliances), indoor and outdoor pools, and clubhouse for the kids

Resort Experience:
We travelled with our two small children (1 and 3) and had a wonderful time. The resort was conveniently located close to all amenities (restaurants, grocery store, department stores, etc.). Wasaga Beach was only a 15-minute drive, so we went there twice during the week. We travelled 1 1/2 hours to Canada's Wonderland and spent the day there; the kid's loved it. We also visited the scenic caves, one of Canada's Great Natural Wonders. We also visited the Village at Blue, which had lots of things to do (bike riding for the whole family and pond fishing). Because we travelled early June, a few things were still not open, like Wasaga Beach’s water slides and the water park at Village Blue.

This is a very nice place. All the units were in the same building, so the kids could go to the pool without going outside, which was nice in the winter. We had two one-bedroom units, and each had a full kitchen, king-size bed in the living room, and a split bath (so you could brush your teeth while someone else was in the shower). RCI lists the one-bedroom unit as sleeping a maximum of four persons, but the resort allows five and will deliver a cot free. We had only four in our unit, but with two youngish teenaged boys, the extra cot meant that the boys didn't have to share a bed (so we all got to sleep)! The cot was VERY much appreciated.

My sister had three younger children with her, so the activities were really nice, especially the Saturday night free dinner and games (6-8 pm) for kids 5 to 12 years old. They had pizza, chicken nuggets, and french fries, and had so much fun that they didn't want to leave when 8pm came around. The adults had peace and quiet and a civilized meal. What a deal! Then the free movie started at 8:30 (free popcorn and drinks, too). This was my sister's first experience staying in a timeshare and she loved it.

There were even free sleigh rides on Saturday afternoon, but we missed those because we were skiing at Blue Mountain. The slopes were nice, but my boys preferred the slopes at Horseshoe Resort, which are easier slopes for beginner skiers.

The most fun, though, was dog-sledding (yes, really!). Up on top of Blue Mountain, there's a place that has Alaskan and Siberian Huskies, and you can ride for CA$65 (currently that’s about US$51). There's a great big flat track on top of the mountain (it's really part of the Niagara Escarpment, not a mountain, but they call it a mountain), and you go along in a very big oval -- lots of fun. Younger children can be passengers on the sleds. There's also snowmobiling, but you have to be 21 years of age and have a driver's license. We chose dog-sledding instead. My sons loved playing with the Husky puppies.

We even got a peek (courtesy tour) of the remodeled units at the Georgian Manor, and they are smashing! We got a nice free breakfast and a no-pressure "courtesy" tour. I was frank about not really being interested in buying another place, but I thought the prices were fair and the units wonderful. I would love to come back here. Perhaps in summer we will -- I hear Wasaga Beach is something special.
