The Innsbrucker Hutte commands one of the most spectacular locations of any hut in the Stubai Valley and is one of the largest huttes on the route.
It also has one of the largest Guestrooms - including a section called the Britannia Room which was opened in 1998 and dedicated to Harry Parker - very nice but just looks like a more modern area of the hut and in no way associated with the UK. Despite its appearance from a distance most are disappointed by the terrace which lays claim to only a few tables and a washing line when it has so much more potential.
The matratzenlager rooms are nicely finished but are the tightest yet - with a mere 25ft of space for 16 people even the pillows overlapped. Sadly the hut comes as a bit of a dissapointment with meals struggling to keep pace with the standards of the others. i.e. overall rating - pleasant but nothing special
The main attraction of the hut is the wealth of climbing opportunities available in the immedeate vicinity. In particular there are two Kletterstein routes within a few minutes walk one suitable for newcomers (Climbing Garden), the other being more exposed (Ilmspitzen Route). Both are accessible from the path leading up to the Kalkwand
