Franz Senn Hut

One of the biggest mountain lodges in the Stubai area, has its own mountaineering school, bar, resturant with accomodation for 200 people, mostly in dormitories. Best hut for reaching impressive but non-technical peaks. The hut is connected to the internet and although you cannot surf from here you can send e-postcards, The internet site is http://www.fankhauser.at/ To reach the hut, take the public bus to Neustift Village, then there is a taxi-minibus or car which makes the trip twice a day, at 9:30am and 15:30 at a cost of 10 euro per person. The taxi leaves from the stand near the supermarket The walk up from Oberissalm is fairly steep in places but on a good path, just short of the hut there's a small building which offers refreshments - run by two friendly old guys who haul supplies up in backpacks its odd that the beer is cheaper here than in the Franz Senn Hut altjough its not draught but in cans, they also offer food but fairly basic affairs no main meals. Trek up from the road head can take a few hours so try and catch the morning taxi.
