The Sandalwood is adequate. It is not of the quality of mid-to-high end major hotel chains. But it is decent value. I got a suite at a corporate rate of 106 Canadian (95 plus tax), which is about $70 US.
The room rate includes a basic breakfast buffet that met my needs. They do not have room service, bellman, concierge, like full-service hotels, but it is adequate for a place to work and sleep. The rooms have kitchenettes.
This property is 4 floors and at least 100 rooms. It is built around a courtyard that was attractive (although covered in a foot of snow). There are statues and colorful peacocks and pheasant (I think) in the courtyard.
Location is about 7 miles from the Toronto airport, tucked away in an industrial area in Mississuaga. I had a terrible time finding it. I usually map my routes between airport and accommodation, but did not this time. Big mistake. I got horribly incorrect directions from the gatekeeper at Hertz Toronto airport, and then got bad information multiple times via phone from the front desk of the hotel.
By the time I arrived (100 Kilometers later), I was no mood to talk about the directions the front desk provided. Unfortunately, they persisted, and got the bad end of my day, which started with a 7am flight from Sweden (which was about 11pm the night before in Toronto).
However, they were good sports about it, and I felt a little bad when I found the nice gourmet gift basket they left in my room with a nice note of apology.
