Best Things Nearby:
Wasaga Beach (1/2 hour), Toronto and CN Tower (2 hours), Niagara Falls (2 1/2 hours)

Best Things About the Resort:
The units were large, clean, and up-to-date. Lots of walking paths, beautiful scenery on top of ski slope hills, indoor/outdoor pool, restaurant, golf course, activities.

Resort Experience:
Carriage Hills is connected to two other resorts, Horseshoe Valley and Carriage Ridge Resorts. The only bad part is, you have to check in at the Horseshoe Valley Resort, and then drive a couple miles to the Carriage Hills (walking is closer, not having to wind around the roads). Also, they wouldn't let us use the pools at the other two resort areas, and our pool wasn't very big. It was very cold, the hot tub was just lukewarm most of the time, and the workout room's air conditioner was broken, so it was at least 100 degrees in there. The did let me use the workout room at the Carriage Ridge, but they wouldn't let my kids use that pool, so it was inconvenient for me to go over there to work out and have my husband bring the kids to "our" pool.

The unit was very large and clean. We had a two-bedroom villa, which was more like two apartments. The larger had a nice fully stocked kitchen, dinette, living room with fireplace, patio, master bedroom with king bed, and bathroom with large whirlpool tub. The second "bedroom" was a connected studio apartment with a king-size bed, queen pull-out couch, TV, small table and chairs, partial kitchen, bathroom with shower, and patio. We had our own washer and dryer also. Very clean and spacious. They had an indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub, and workout room in the clubhouse. Activities, restaurant, walking paths, gas grills to use, golf courses, and skiing hills.

Best Things Nearby:
Within an hour, you can visit the beaches of Wasaga, take a boat ride on Lake Simcoe, and visit Toronto or even an amusement park.

Best Things About the Resort:
The resort sat on top of Horse Valley and offered an incredible view. The units were very clean and well maintained.

Resort Experience:
This is an incredible resort with lots to do within the area. On site you are limited to golf in summer, skiing in winter, or the indoor/outdoor pool. The restaurants are delicious. It was one of the best resort experiences I have had.

Wasaga Beach, Barrie, Casino Rama, Golf, Paramounts Wonderland, Toronto shopping

Best Things About the Resort:
The recreation center with indoor pool was very nice. The units are stunning! Barbeque grills and covered picnic tables for grilling out, and children's play area

Resort Experience:
We checked into a two-bedroom unit that was perfect for the needs of our family. The lock-off unit allowed for family time, as well as privacy. With three DVD players in the unit, there was never a fight over the TV, which is a plus in our family. The units were clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. There were also two outdoor patios for a quiet night in the woods. Within a 30-minute drive, you can be in Wasaga Beach, Barrie, or Orillia, all offering a variety of activities. We were there opening weekend of Wonderland, the Paramount Amusement Park in Toronto only an hour away for those wanting the excitment and thrill of a roller coaster. The resort offered Internet access, indoor pool, hot tub, video rentals, and day trips to Toronto, along with other loactions. I would highly recommend this resort.

Toronto and Wasaga Beach

Best Things About the Resort:
There are two golf courses in the summer, and it makes a great ski lodge in the winter.

Resort Experience:
The resort was in the middle of nowhere, but it was nice and quiet. The resort staff was okay, but they could have been friendlier. There were mostly teenagers working there in the summer when we went with our three kids. It had a small indoor/outdoor pool and two golf courses. The rooms were in good shape, with a fireplace, washer/dryer, Jacuzzi in the master bedroom, and a king-size bed. The second bedroom had a king-size bed and a pullout couch. The second room was a lockout, creating the two-bedroom suite.

They had propane barbeques and walking trails, which were nice. I would recommend it if you were going to be doing things during your stay not specific to the resort. Basically, it is a place to hang your hat for the week.

Who cares?! There's so much to do here!

Best Things About the Resort:
Kids' ski program at KIDS' CORRAL. We have never found a better program. The price and quality of lessons are excellent!

Resort Experience:
The units are spacious and beautiful! We have stayed in both one- and two-bedroom units. The two-bedroom units consist of a studio with lock-off and a common entrance with washer and dryer. Travelling with young children, we found that the one-bedroom unit was more appropriate for us because the second bedroom (adjoining studio unit)was just too far away to hear the kids. This was great, however, when we had other adults with us.
