Ron Jon Cape Caribe Resort

This resort is unbelievable! Six adults in a family resort—I was sure we would be "bothered". But, the layout of the resort allows us to have our own 'adult" area at the pool with live entertainment by the Tiki Hut that serves drinks and food. Resort was extremely clean. We had a 2 bedroom "flex" unit which allow great privacy for all. One bedroom had 2 double beds and the living room had a privacy door for the other 2 guests to sleep in the fold out. The studio apartment had its own kitchen, bath w/Jacuzzi tub, shower, and a king-size bed. Great decorations.

Best Things Nearby:
Kennedy Space Center, two casino cruise ships, Orlando, Daytona International Speedway

Best Things About the Resort:
The pool areas, free movies at their theater, the beach and the slow laid back atmosphere.

Resort Experience:
The Ron Jon is a nice quiet place with plenty of area attractions within an hours drive. You can go to Disney, Universal Studios, Daytona Speedway, Kennedy Space Center or just steps away you have the beach. The resort has a lot of extras for the family. Breakfast on your patio, lounge by the pool, float in the lazy river. Have lunch at their restaurant, relax some more around the pool, and then go out for dinner at one of the local restaurants or take a trip on one of the two gambling ships that are close by. Or if you want to stay with your kids then after dinner take in one of their free movies or play mini golf. There is really a lot to do at the Ron Jon, so much that if you wanted to you could make your vacation very active, or just relax. We did a lot but there was too much for one trip. They have an exercise room at the main resort which really gets underused and they also have bike rentals available. The two bedroom unit we had was beach side, but beach side doesn't mean right on the beach, there is a large foliage area that you must walk through to get to the beach and for the pool we had to walk (or take their shuttle) to the main building and their only pool. If you do not have a floor higher than the second floor then you will not be able to even see the beach. The beds that we had were super hard. The staff seems to know about it but the resort has done nothing to help. We ended up sleeping on the pull out sofa/sleeper which was comfortable but wasn't what we thought we should have to sleep on during our vacation. The carpeting had cigarette holes and stains in them. We thought that for a resort that has only been open for 2 years. this was a little problem but found out that they were already redoing the 2+3 floor rooms. But we did like the resort and would go back. They seem to want to please (even though they never gave us a wake up call our last day there) and it is the only time share resort in Cape Canaveral, so it does have its benefits.

Best Things Nearby:
Kennedy Space Center, the ocean, and lots of little fish shacks

Best Things About the Resort:
The pool is outstanding. With its lazy river, waterslide, and large main pool, you can easily kill the week there.

Resort Experience:
For those of you who are looking to go to a resort and not leave, Ron Jon Cape Caribe Resort is the place for you. Before you enter the front door, the kids will beg you to play at the free 9-hole miniature golf course, and when you enter the lobby you feel like you just arrived at something Jimmy Buffett just created. Ron Jons is a wonderland for the kids. The kids will gasp at the pool, they will scream when they see the indoor Chuck E. Cheese-type playground, they will freak when they see the arcade, and they will beg you to go see another movie in the free movie theater; and after the kids are done going crazy, all you will want to do is cozy up to the bar and toss down a few drinks.

This unit was a two-bedroom that had a king-size bed in the master bedroom and two double beds in the second bedroom. There was also a pull-out sofa in the living room. The master bedroom had an ensuite bathroom with a shower and a whirlpool tub. There was also a second bathroom with only a shower stall. The kitchen was fully equipped and very convenient. For a unit that was supposed to sleep 8 people, I was a bit suprised to find a dining table that only seated six people. Two kids always had to sit on the floor at the living room table. The two double beds are not suitable for two adults each. I would not suggest that more than six people stay in this unit.

Best Things Nearby:
Manatee park was very interesting. There were at least 20 manatee swimming near the shore, some as close as about 5 meters away. Walking trips out to the pier at Jetty Park were fun too. We liked watching the huge cruise ships set sail and even saw a dolphin or two jumping at the nose of the ship near the mouth of the port.

Best Things About the Resort:
Where do I start? The lazy river and the water slide were tops on our list at the resort. The pool and splash area were very enjoyable too. My 4-year-old absolutely loved the indoor play area. By far, the view from our 4th floor ocean view villa was the best.

Resort Experience:
The property is beautiful and very well-laid-out, with a lot of room for future expansion.

Currently, there are two buildings: the main building, which houses all of the resort's amenities, the pools/water slide/lazy river, the mini-putt, the arcade, the playground, the theatre, and the restaurant; and the second building, about 500 meters away and right on the edge of the ocean. From our balcony (4th floor), we had a wonderful view of the entrance to Port Canaveral (about 500 meters away) and could easily see the huge cruise ships going out. The resort offers a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes that will take you back and forth between the two buildings, but most of the the time we enjoyed the short walk.

This resort is definitely one I will return to and recommend to my friends.

The only downfall was the sleeping facilities. Our unit was a sleeps eight in two bedrooms. I would not recommend this unit for more than two adults. We had four adults and three kids under 12 years old. The two double beds in the second bedroom are not big enough to sleep two adults (good thing I was able to catch an afternoon snooze poolside).
