Ocean Landings

We stayed a week here over Easter in D111. This is a ground-level one-bedroom, two-bath oceanfront unit in one of the two Caribbean Dreams Buildings at Ocean Landings. I had done some research previous to the trade, and when I confirmed, I was pretty sure we were in the best place to be! That's what is nice about member reviews; you can read up on the place, and when you arrive, you have a much better idea what to expect. This resort is not new, but what it lacks in modern amenities, it makes up for in flavour. We were checked in quickly and pleasantly with little fanfare. The lobby also houses the lounge and the Gregory's restaurant with entertainment nightly. We did not use either facility, as we found much to do and were often out exploring at mealtimes.

Our unit had a good view of the large, beautiful beach and tile patio. The interior was clean and spacious, with a king-size bed in the bedroom and full bath en suite. The kitchen/living area had lots of space, with a table and a breakfast bar. There was also a second bath with a shower adjacent to the entry, and we had a maid service to change linens, vacuum, and replace the bedding on Tuesday. Cleaning service can be requested daily for a fee, but we found once was adequate, since we could exchange towels and pick up beach towels from the laundry whenever we needed. There were also washers and dryers in each building that are coin-operated. The first thing that struck me was the feeling of permanence to the place. The other vacationers I met were all people who owned several weeks and used them there each year or families who trade to go there; most seemed to be repeat visitors.

The accommodations were very nice - a little dated but very clean. We had a one-bedroom unit with 1 1/2 baths. The kitchen was very well equipped with a great view of the beach. There was a queen-size bed and queen sleeper sofa. There was a dining room table and a bar with four stools. There were two TVs and coin laundry facilities located in our building. There are three separate buildings two are oceanfront. The hotel rooms are not oceanfront. The resort is older but well maintained. Activities were limited but the ones we attended (bingo) were fun. The food from the snack bar was good and reasonable.

Ocean Landings Resort

Best Things Nearby:
The resort is on Cocoa Beach, minutes to the Kennedy Space Center and less than an hour to Orlando.

Best Things About the Resort:
It's located directly on the beach with stunning views of the ocean. It is a great family destination and a wonderful home base for exploring the area. Clean and friendly too!

Resort Experience:
We very much enjoyed our stay at Ocean Landings. I would return again.

BEACH: We really enjoyed the beaches at Cocoa Beach, especially the waves for boogie boards! My young sons could run out into the surf and still be within a few inches of water. The tide was low and allowed for them to play in the surf. The beach is very wide and provided ample space for lounging and playing. The resort has a tar removal station at the end of the boardwalk on the return, but we never saw any of the black stuff while we were there. The sand is indeed cocoa in color.

UNIT: The resort is older than most that we've stayed in, but most of the units have been redecorated over the last couple of years. We really liked our third-floor one-bedroom/two-bath unit with a good view and short walk to the beach. Our family of six (four adults, one child, and one baby) were ok in the one-bedroom unit with the addition of a roll-away bed and a crib. Everything actually fit ok and allowed us to sleep comfortably. The Florida decor was very nice. The two full sized bathrooms had a tub and shower in one and only a shower in the other. Everything was open and airy. The bedroom did not have a view, but instead looked out to the parking lot/hall. The living room had floor to ceiling windows with a spectacular view of the ocean and beach and a wonderful balcony. We watched dolphins playing in the surf and pelicans diving for fish. The first floor units are at a bit of a disadvantage since the buildings have sand dunes and vegetation between them and the beach. The view is obstructed on the lower floors.

RESORT: The Caribbean and Dream buildings face the beach with a short walk to the beach and are in excellent condition. All of the other buildings look like older motel units. We experienced friendly staff at Ocean Landings. The guys at the front desk were efficient, friendly, and very helpful. I don't believe any of the units have washers or dryers, but they have daily towel exchange service and there is a coin laundry in each of the buildings with reasonably priced machines. There were a number of planned activities for children and adults but I did not participate in any of these.

AREA: Many guests stated that the resort restaurant, GREGORY'S is one of the finest in the Cocoa Beach area, specializing in steaks. Places to visit include: Kennedy Space Center, Port Canaveral (Disney ships and daily casino boat cruises- free and fun) and airboat rides at Cabbage Key. There are many restaurants and stores within walking distance of the resort and within the local area. Orlando is less than an hour away via the Beeline.
