Best Things Nearby:
We were only a couple minutes to the main business district and directly on the water.

Best Things About the Resort:
Being on the water, the gas barbecues in the common area at the Village, great sunsets, and pleasant accommodations.

Resort Experience:
Its a pleasent but older timeshare community right on the beach in Kailua. Although the rocks are lava and you have no real beach to swim on there, you can fish from the rocks if you want to. The units were attractively furnished and some units are owned outright. Sunterra was our timeshare host and were eager to accommodate us whenever we asked for something. They have a nice swimming pool to use but we never did, preferring to go to a swimming beach and enjoy the warm ocean water!

The only criticism I had was they had a problem with the mini ants that are everywhere in Hawaii and almost impossible to keep at bay. They use Orkin to try to keep on top of them. I also found two cockroaches in the unit which freaked me because they don't have them where I come from. But I learned that they are everywhere in Hawaii, especially the rental cars, so I guess I overreacted.

I think the best thing about the timeshare was the proximity to town and shopping while being on the beach. There are tons of timeshares, hotels, private housing, etc., but the beach line has been gobbled up a long time ago, so to get close to town was a good deal.

It was the least expensive hotel in the Tourist District and it was very nice. The best part about it was the direct line to the Internet for only $9.00 a day extra. If you are staying for a long time I would suggest you ask for a discount.
