When I was looking for hotels in Seattle, I wanted one that was inexpensive and near Safeco Field, and this Motel 6 fit the bill perfectly. Located in Tukwila, a suburb of Seattle, Motel 6 Seatac is located about 9 miles from Safeco Field and many of Seattle's famous destinations.
Coming in from Vancouver, I had no trouble getting to the hotel, but upon arriving in Tukwila, I was greeted by a sign saying that this area is frequented by prostitutes and drug dealers and to take proper precautions. "What the hell did I get myself into?", I thought to myself.
So, I pulled into the Motel 6 parking lot at about 11am and went to the front desk to see if I could check-in before heading to the Mariners game. The manager was having trouble with a customer who had been there a week and was not satisfied with any of his rooms. I thought, "This is not going to be a good day!" But after the customer left, the manager smiled at me and said she could get me in a room. We then talked about the hotel and the manager and I said, "What did he expect, the Hilton?" She laughed and said this hotel was clean. After checking in and getting a parking permit (this location is near a bar whose patrons have been illegally parking in the hotel parking lot), I asked her about taking the bus to Safeco Field and she said the bus was right outside the door and came at 11:25.
After checking in, I parked my car near my room, which was located in the back facing the woods. My room was nice and clean and spartanly furnished with a bed, shower, and table. Just what I needed to rest before the long 500-mile trip to Meridian the next morning.
This Motel 6 is located near the airport, but not in a great neighborhood, so take precautions, but it is a cheap accommodation near downtown Seattle and the airport. The people who work there are very nice and are willing to help you get around the city. After returning from the baseball game, I took my car to the nearby McDonald's, got dinner to go, and locked myself in my room for the night. I was so tired from my Vancouver adventures and the baseball game that I had no energy to sightsee around Seattle. I was content staying in my room watching the Emmys on TV.
To get to the Motel 6 Seatac, take I-5 to I-405. Then get off at the Route 518 exit and go all the way down to International Boulevard. Take a right onto International Boulevard and Motel 6 is on the left.
I recommend this hotel for its cleanliness and its nice staff, but I don't recommend it for its nightlife or location.
