Cute and Close to Airport

I really enjoyed this hotel for many reasons. It was for one close to the airport, so close you can walk and skip the taxi. It also has a relaxed environment where everyone is friendly and helpful. The ocean is calm enough to play or relax near all day. This is also a cost effective hotel to meet any budget!

This low-priced accommodation near the St. Thomas airport was an incredible value. Unlike the other Best Western nearby, this hotel had a beautiful private beach on the Caribbean, a nice restaurant and beach-side bar, and a picture-perfect pool overlooking the beach. It is within walking distance to the airport, but the planes offer little distraction. For closer proximity to the ferry terminal, try the Holiday Inn in Charlotte Amalie, but to start off your relaxing Caribbean vacation on the right foot, the Emerald Beach Resort fits the bill.

Best Things Nearby:
This has the best beach on the island - it is never crowded, and it has great calm waters for relaxing.
Best Things About the Resort:
The overall value was excellent. Rooms were very nice, and the staff was helpful and friendly.
Resort Experience:
It's close to the airport, but you would never know it. The property is very well laid out, and the rooms were great. There were marble bathrooms and large balconies for relaxing. Emerald Beach is one of the best beaches in the world. It has white sand and is very clean. There is a great restaurant and really nice special events. The air-conditioning worked great, and everything was very well thought out. It was a great trip to a great hotel. There were no disappointments.

The rooms were modest and fairly clean, although mold could be seen throughout the room. The air conditioning didn't work as well as it should, but stay here for the beach - it's incredible. Right across from the airport on Lindberg Bay, it is fairly quiet and a beach that was recommended by locals. Scuba diving is available at the hotel.

Royal Mekong Hotel

The rooms were very clean, spacious, and nice. We stayed at the hotel for over two weeks and I didn't have any problems. I'm sure that you could find cheaper rooms and it might be better to be closer to town. But this hotel had a beautiful view of the Mekong River and very quiet.(except for when forty American college students were staying there) The one thing that started to wear thin was the lobby music that was constantly playing no matter what time of day/night it was. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant, it was over priced and not very good.
The problem with this hotel was that it was on the river and not in town. So the tuk-tuk drivers would wait outside the hotel and we had no choice but to pay them for a ride. No matter what bargain with them and don't let rip you off. Sometimes I would just start walking and they would lower their price and chase after me.
From the hotel you can walk to some restaurants but it would take you a good 45 minutes to walk into town. On the positive side, you have a beautiful view of the Mekong river and can walk onto the side to watch the fisherman or have a small party on the beach. Closer to the friendship bridge their are vendors that set-up tent and outdoor restaurants. It is nice to sit by the water, on the side, and have some Thai food. And no matter where you go, you will always be able to by ice cream somewhere.
