Massanutten's Shenandoah Villas

Best Things Nearby:
Mountains, pools, restaurants, mini-golf, ski hills, activity center, spa, games room, fitness center.

Best Things About the Resort:
It had everything you'd want to do all within this fairly large resort. Beautiful surroundings, very large, well-equipped rooms. We had a supposed one-bedroom, but it had an extra large king-size bed, plus a double couch in the bedroom and another pull-out couch in the living room. It was really as good as a two-bedroom, even for the two of us and our four kids.

Resort Experience:

Beautiful location amidst the mountains. Had a nice kids’ comedy night, amongst other evening activities. Many gorgeous pools, although they were not well heated. Ping-pong and electronic game rooms, fitness center, spa, a nice well-priced sit-down restaurant, plus a few other fast food places on premises. Mini-putt, ice-cream parlour, and I guess in winter, skiing. So much to do - but research the place on your first night, as it's very large and spread out and you don't want to miss anything. We really liked the lifeguards at all the pools, it let us drift off or read without having to keep an eagle eye on the kids. Nice playgrounds and outdoor seating areas too.

Best Things About the Resort:
There are tons of things to do. You never have to leave the property if you don't want to.

Resort Experience:
The Shenandoah Villas are part the huge Massanutten resort nestled in the Shenandoah Valley in Northern Virginia. Our villa was a lower unit with a bedroom (two single beds that could not be pushed together), bathroom, full kitchen, and living/dining area on the main floor, and a master bedroom suite with a queen-size bed on the lower floor.

The area is beautiful. There are tons of things to do, and there are soon be even more once the water park is open. There is swimming, hiking, and some activities that are free. Most other activities require a fee (activity cards can be purchased).

I wouldn't recommend this resort if you are on a strict budget or if you do not have a vehicle (everything is spread out on a 4-mile hill!), but all in all, we found it to be a really nice family-friendly place.

Best Things About the Resort:
There is a very good restaurant on site and both an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as a hot tub.

Resort Experience:
We had a two-bedroom unit on the hillside. The kitchen was large and well stocked with everything we needed. Two balconies were available - one off the master bedroom and one off the living room. It was pleasant to sit on the balcony in the morning and relax/eat breakfast. Since the evenings were beginning to be cool, we usually started a fire in the fireplace – the resort always had plenty of wood for the fireplace available.

Best Things Nearby:
There is a pet resort 1 mile past Massanutten. Pets can be boarded for a very reasonable rate, and the staff actually takes to time to get to know and care for your pet.

Best Things About the Resort:
Mountains, trails, golfing, recreation centers, and activities

Resort Experience:
This is a very nice place to escape the hustle-and-bustle of the city. The food at the Fareways Restaurant was very good. We enjoyed a magic show. You will need a car to get around.

There are no pictures of the Shenandoah Villa units that are advertised on the last-call vacations. This is little misleading, because when I booked our trip, I thought that we would be in a cabin-like facility. We were actually in a property that is classified as a hotel.

The property was nice, but when other guests were placed in the units next to us and above us, we could hear footsteps above us and screaming beside us. One night, the stomping and the sound of running went on until about 2:30am. If you’re thinking of staying there, request placement in an upper-level unit. We were assigned to unit 2044ABC.

Fitness courses and golf. Pools are great too!

Resort Experience:
This is a great family place with lots to do. There are good discounts with the activity card, and the resort also has good restaurants. Make sure you have a car to travel around the resort. I was very happy with this resort. It also has an amazing mini-putt that is free with the activity card.
