Great Stay - Terrific People

This was a great resort. All the amenities were in wonderful shape, many looked new. The condo was kind of small but very functional. With gas prices we did fewer excursions than normal but there was plenty to do on the grounds. Swimming (indoor and outdoor pools), hot tub, putt-putt, horseshoes, tennis, shuffle board and a small theater. The food in the grill was suprisingly good and reasonably priced. The staff was likely the friendliest and most helpful I have experienced.

Best Things Nearby:
Tubing on the Gaudelupe or Comal River, visiting all the attractions in San Antonio, Schlitterbahn Water Park in New Braunfels, and Fiesta Texas. We absolutely loved the area and all it has to offer.

Best Things About the Resort:
Horseback riding, great mini golf course, and shuffleboard. The kids loved the amenities at the resort.

Resort Experience:
Two-bedroom, very small condo with beautiful view of Canyon Lake. Our condo was very outdated and needs major bathroom renovations. The toilet wouldn't flush and the sink didn't drain. The kitchen was very poorly stocked. The woodwork needs a coat of paint desperately.

The two-bedroom condo was very small. The bedrooms were very little with barely room for a double bed and a small chest in each room. The bathrooms were old and outdated. In one bathroom the sink didn't drain for several minutes and the toilet wouldn't flush. One bathroom did have a Jacuzzi tub, but it looked too dirty to use. Also, the woodwork and walls were in major need of paint or just a good cleaning. They were moldy and just plain dirty. The carpet looked pretty new. It was definitely the best thing about the condo. It was sparsely decorated in fishing lodge decor (definitely just the bare necessities--a couple of pictures). The kitchen was missing many of the items listed on the inventory sheet. Maybe we were placed in one of the older condos. Some of the other buildings looked much newer. This condo was definitely not nearly as nice as all the other RCI properties we have stayed in the last few years.

Best Things About the Resort:
Location.

Resort Experience:
We had a nice view of Canyon Lake. The grounds and the unit were clean and well kept.

The resort is easy to get to. There's not much in the town of Canyon Lake, though. I would recommend going in the summer as there would have been more to do. Tubing on the Guadalupe River looked fun, but was not available in November. San Antonio is about one hour south. There are two huge outlet malls about 30 minutes north that are very nice.

Riverwalk in San Antonio.

Best Things About the Resort:
Spacious rooms.

Resort Experience:
The Hill Country Resort is newly remodeled with many new units added by Silverleaf. The two-bedroom units are very comfortable and clean. We were there in February and the place was very quiet. We drove into San Antonio every day for an event we were there for. There are zillions of things to do in San Antonio!
