Best Things About the Resort:
Really the best thing is the location, as it's near everything. The gym facilities are pretty good, with lots of classes, like aerobics, Pilates, and salsa, at reasonable prices (pretty fun and must-try), plus the use of the gym is free of charge and it also has a sauna you can enjoy after a long day of activities. The water park, Magic World, is right next door, and guests get 50% off. The staff is really helpful and tries to make the best of your stay. Beware of the main pool that has the swim-up bar, though, as it is a bit slippery going in, although there are two pools and the one in the back is not as slippery.

Resort Experience:
The Ixtapa Palace is a charming resort that is not very big, so you avoid the large crowds at the pool and common areas. The units are comfortable but not luxurious, although the air-conditioning units could use some work, as they are the wall type that are quite noisy. I loved the bedroom, since it was very spacious, plus you have a balcony and large window that overlooks the pool area. My one-bedroom unit had two full bathrooms (I believe most do, but not all), a stocked kitchenette with a small fridge, a living room area, and on a top floor, a bedroom with another bathroom with a tub in it. What the bedroom was missing was a TV, although apparently not all one-bedroom units are set up that way. I really enjoyed all the closet space, though, not only in the bedroom, but in the living room area as well, so, if you are travelling with your family, closet space is not a problem. On-site you can find a mini-mart that has the basics, including beer, which is great, because it tends to get hot during the day and it's a good way to cool off.
