Best Things Nearby:
Going to Ixtapa Island was one of the best things we did the whole trip. We went out one day with a group, but the second time we just took a water taxi ourselves. There's everything there to have a great time: snorkeling, great seafood and drinks, and bathrooms, too!! We spent all day there just relaxing. You have to walk over to the other side of the island though, not where the water taxis drop you off. The snorkeling is much better there. We saw puffer fish, corlin fish, sting rays, and so many other awesome fish. The waiters will give you tortillas to feed them even.

Best Things About the Resort:
The resort is amazing and so friendly. We had guys taking care of us right from the start. They take care of you well here. The El Faro restaraunt is amazing. You have to go right at sunset; their pitch is true - it is the best view in all of Ixtapa! The gondola ride to the beach is neat, too, and the pool is great!

Resort Experience:
It truly is paradise here! We came home relaxed and refreshed. The staff at Pacifica was great and very accommodating. There is much care put into your stay!!

We stayed in a clean condos with all the desired amenities. There was lots of walking up and downhill, but it was well worth the effort. There are fabulous pools and a beach. The restaurants were reasonably priced and good.

Best Things Nearby:
Golf, fishing, restaurants, shopping, beach.

Best Things About the Resort:
Friendly and helpful staff. Free transportation to ease the chore of walking the very hilly terrain. The cable car is very charming and the view from the top of the hill is incredible.

Resort Experience:
The Pacifica Golf unit needed renovation and we were disappointed. We saw some that were renovated and they were nice, but we couldn't get one. The newer units in the Sands and Master Sands are nice and the newest units under construction are gorgeous. Everything else about the resort is fabulous. We would return in a minute if we could be guaranteed a newer or renovated unit.

There are lots of activities to keep you busy for a week (at least). The resort is nice and the surrounding area has much to offer. Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo are great, each with something different to offer. We always felt safe.

The tuna fishing was incredible. I was so busy that I didn't golf, but the courses look great. The beach was not crowded and there were very few peddlers. The Ixtapa Island tour was not good value, but even that was an interesting diversion for most of a day.

The resort restaurants are a good value and the Mexican fiesta was good entertainment. The drinks at the pool bar were very weak and very expensive. Service was great, though.

Everything at the resort can be charged to your unit, which is very convenient. It's all computerized and there was no problem with the accounting upon checkout.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, which is always welcome.

Beach, Ixtapa commercial area (downtown)

Best Things About the Resort:
Great view of the beach from the balcony and the mountains in the rear.

Resort Experience:
This place has a community atmosphere and attracts people of all ages and nationalities. All the units are built into the side of the mountain at the end of Playa Hermosa. There is a lovely cable car to take people to the beach but it's not a place for those who cannot manage to walk up and down steps! The new pool in great. The beach is wonderful. The food and ambiance at ElFaro Restaurant is wonderful, but expensive. The 'on the beach' fare is equally good and more reasonable. The Pacifica Club is convenient to town, but it's very nice to have a car.

Best Things Nearby:
The beach, restaurants, and the beautiful scenery seen from every part of the resort.

Best Things About the Resort:
We liked the views from our balcony in the early morning and again at sunset. Our balcony looked out over the ocean and the lush vegetation below the rooms. The resort sits nestled into a hillside on different levels so the view is different depending on what level you are on. The gondola ride down to the beach is definately a plus and there are swimming pools of the different levels as well. The Lighthouse restaurant at the top of Pacifica has wonderful open-air views to enjoy while you are dining. And the palapa bar on the beach has refreshing cold drinks and good food as well.

Resort Experience:
Upon arrival, you are greeted by a host who helps you check in and then invites you to an outdoor deck overlooking the ocean where you'll have the first cold Corona (or whatever!) of your stay there. We had a lockout that slept 4, with bath on one side and a kitchen and sleeping for 2 on the other. Our balcony overlooked the ocean. We were fairly high up and you have the option of either taking a gondola to the beach or walking down to it via the various levels of stairs, which total almost 200!

The people here are from all over. We even met a couple from Montana. Everyone is very friendly and eager to help. The rooms are well-furnished though some wear-and-tear is evident. The full kitchen came with all the necessary utensils. The daily maid service included a different towel animal each day, decorated with beautiful local flowers. There is even a small grocery store onsite stocked with foodstuffs and various sundries. The resort offers a daily activity schedule if you care to join in. Everything from water aerobics to feeding the alligators!

For us, the biggest plus was the beauty and the laidback atmosphere of Ixtapa. We came for rest and relaxation and found an abundance of both!
