Description: This is absolutely the best condominium on the island. The price mentioned above is too narrow of a range--they actually range from $95/night to $150/night for a small one bedroom and from $165 to $235 for a 2 bedroom. The reason I prefer this condo is that it is isolated on a segment of beach that is usually deserted. The beach there is very clean and quiet, being far from any busy streets. If you try to get a unit here without much advance notice you'll find out how popular it is. Plan ahead if you want to stay here. This is a high rise and the views are very nice. The condo is about 250 yards from the surf, so you won't hear the waves crashing; but, you'll have an unobstructed view of the Gulf. There is a large heated outdoor swimming pool. It is kept warm enough to swim year round.
We like to run down from Austin for Thanksgiving weekend, meeting relatives from west Louisiana at this mid-point and eating our Thanksgiving meal Cajun or seafood style. The units have private balconies and all the amenities you'd expect in a luxury condominium except an exercise gym. Also, the units have no laundry rooms, so you have to use the one in the basement of the condo building. Experiencing the beach via this condominium is such a different experience than doing it from an 'across the seawall' hotel--it just doesn't compare. If you are making reservations for accommodations in Galveston and they tell you it's 'on the beach' make sure you ask them if it's not actually across the seawall from the beach. There are actually only two or three properties that are right on the beach. The Galvestonian is the best of these few.
Another good way to experience a peaceful Galveston beach trip is to rent a beach house on the west end of the island; but you might not have access to a heated pool and you might pay significantly more. The island beach houses are usually pretty far from the water and are in rows, three to six deep with only the 'front row' having beach views.
