Description: The Garden City House Backpacker's Hostel, is perfect for students, or those on a budget. People who prefer high-end hotels will not be pleased and I wouldn't suggest it, there are many luxury hotels in Cairo that you can choose from. For our needs as students, this hostel was quite satisfactory. The rooms were drab and the building was old, but you get what you pay for and this hostel was very affordable.
To start, the service was amazing, the hostel staff was exceptional; I would return because of the staff alone. They were extremely helpful throughout our stay, not to mention nice and accommodating. At our arrival, a hostel staff member came to pick us up and bring us back to the hostel. They speak many languages and ask you your language preference before you arrive. The hostel was around $7 per person for a room. We were very pleased with the price, considering that we were accustomed to the prices in Europe. There is no curfew or lock out.
The staff helped us plan the rest of our trip outside of Cairo. We were able to receive discounts on hotels, transportations, and guides. Because we are young women, they made sure to have a guide pick us up at every stop. Every time we arrived at our bus stop, or train station, there was someone with a piece of paper with our names on it, waiting to pick us up. We missed our flight home and one of the staff members came to the airport in order to bring us back to the hostel. They let us stay at the hostel until it was time for our flight.
