There are single bedrooms with traditional Japanese communal showers (free) or Japanese bath and kitchen (you pay for gas) and laundry (we did not use this).
The reception area has two tables where you can meet new friends and get helpful hints or just talk with people from all over the world.

The hotel is very "come as you are." There's no need to impress with the latest Tumi luggage, Palm Pilot, or stories of airline upgrades. The other travelers and management understand your desire to see Tokyo, but also not break the bank. New Koyo's guests and staff are more than helpful with sightseeing advice, dinner recommendations, and everything else in between. English is spoken by the staff, but it doesn't hurt to review some Japanese phrases beforehand.
Rates are cheap at just 2500 Yen for a single Japanese-style room. Medium single Japanese rooms or Western-style rooms cost 2700 Yen. If you are with friends, perhaps a semi-double Japanese room or Western-style room is best, for just 4800 Yen. Can’t beat those prices! Rooms are simple but immaculate; they come with TV, window, and fresh linens. New Koyo's main selling point is the no-curfew policy. The hotel's webpage is extensive and can be found here: http://www.newkoyo.jp/
