Description: El Greco, which should really be called "El Ghetto," has to be the worse possible place to stay at in the Bahamas. So going from least horrible to most horrible, we'll have to mention that there were zero amenities, not even the basics: no iron, no blow dryer, no shampoo - nothing. As well, the staff, not housekeeping, but hotel employees, thinks that it's fine to just walk into your room without your permission. Because I figured there may be no iron there, I brought my own. Other guests in the hotel asked the front desk for an iron, and they had only one to pass around. Somehow, probably through the housekeeper, they found out that we had one in our room and, assuming it was theirs, walked right into our room to take it, but we stopped them by telling them we brought it.
Next to that rudeness, often the cable would not work in our room. This would occur between blackouts at the hotel.
For some reason, the hotel locks its doors around 11pm, and if you want to come or go, you have to knock and wake up a man in a shower cap that sleeps in the middle of the lobby in a makeshift bed of chairs and linens. He gets grumpy when you wake him.
On the fifth day that we were there, we didn't have hot water, so they switched our room. The room they put us in "appeared to be clean," seeing as how the bed was made and fresh towels were in the bathroom. But traumatically, yes, I said traumatically, we found a USED CONDOM filled with fluids on our bed!!!!! The worse part is that when we complained to the front desk, they had the audacity to respond with, "Well, what do you want me to do about it." He couldn't even pretend to be apologetic or sympathetic, let alone compensate us. So, naturally, we left.
We had friends stay at this hotel as well because we went down as a group for a wedding. Apparently, two of our friends staying in different hotel rooms were solicited for sex by prostitutes, and there were drug dealers pushing drugs in the hotel lobby. From this trip, I learned that when offered "snow," they weren't talking about snow cones, but cocaine.
Needless to say, this was a terrible stay to say the least. Although you get what you pay for, because this was a cheap place, we still should not have had to deal with half of the ridiculousness that happened at the hotel. I have no idea how this place stays in business. Oh, and I forgot to mention that they promised us a group rate, and when we got there, they tried to overcharge us from what they had initially promised.
