This hotel has the best location for discovering Florence on foot. We could walk to all the points of interest in just a few minutes. The Duomo, San Lorenzo, Piazza della Signoria, Uffizi, Santa Croce, Piazza della Republica, Ponte Vecchio, Galleria dell' Accademia and so many more that we didn't have time to visit.
It is completely unpretentious, being a one-star hotel, although posted prices are 90 euros a day. I doubt our travel company paid that much. The towels are more like sheets, but we received clean ones every day. The air-conditioning worked adequately. The dining service only provided juice, milk, coffee, and rolls in the morning. But there is a patisserie directly across the street Gli Stuccherini that had the best espresso, cappuccino, and pastries for incredibly reasonable prices. A couple doors down, there are restaurants and shops, and around the corner is a green grocer if anyone wants to buy fresh fruit.
There is a small, intimate lobby where the adults in our tour group gathered and chatted in the evenings. Since there is so much to do in Florence, there is no reason to spend much time in a hotel, and the Albergo Firenze is a perfect place to leave your luggage while enjoying all that Florence has to offer.
