Description: The Radisson Hotel is on the edges of Savannah’s Historic District of Savannah, GA. Although the Hyatt and Hilton have better locations in Historic Savannah, the Radisson is better situated than the Marriott or Westin. The Radisson is a newer 6-story building with a brick/stucco façade. The hotel offers valet parking for $13/day, but otherwise there’s none.
The main entrance opens into a quaint little Southern Style lobby. Immediately on one side is the concierge. It’s formal and casual all at the same time, which is a good description of Savannah in general. The staff is great and very courteous. It’s as if we were staying at a Ritz-Carlton, but much more casual. Needless to say our check in went smoothly. All my requests were honored…top floor, non-smoking, king bed, two cribs, city view. Bell service brought up our bags.
We opened the door to our room, and I was impressed. It’s rated 3 stars, but should be at least 4. Our room was a décor that I’d best describe as Eclectic Southern Boutique. The room was average size, but had high ceilings with wood crown moldings and base. Hard to believe it’s a Radisson. Furniture consisted of dark stylish pieces, and a light mustard wing back with matching ottoman. I know it sounds iffy but was great. Our king-size four poster bed had a thick and comfy floral comforter and bed skirt. The bed is so high it comes with a step stool. But better yet, it’s one of the most comfortable beds I’ve been in. It was so nice with clean and soft linens…I just never wanted to leave it. 5-star quality bed, undoubtedly.
Our 6th floor room looked upon Franklin Square below and historic district. It was a great place to pull up in the morning, sip coffee and watch steeples light up with the morning sun. Oh, I can’t wait to go back. The small bathrooms are clean and nice. They had a tile floor and granite vanity. Everything was high end including a framed mirror, 2-tone faucets/fixtures, multi-setting showerhead and a real hairdryer. That’s a nice touch.
We ate one breakfast in the Restaurant. We had the buffet and it was fair in every way. The Radisson has room service, but there was no menu in our room. However, it seems like a waste to eat in a hotel in a city like Savannah when there are hundreds of great restaurants. There is a nice heated outdoor pool on the Second Floor sundeck. It isn’t large but is totally sufficient for a smaller property like this one. There were ample clean towels available and a small fitness center adjacent.
In closing, although I want to try all the hotels in Savannah on future visits, I have a feeling this will be our place to stay. But I will not be back in Savannah in the summer ever again!
