Castle Marne is a stone mansion built in 1889 and restored room by room. The owners have a wonderful album in their sitting room that details all the restoration with pictures from start to finish that is so interesting!
Castle Marne is a locally designated Landmark structure, listed on the National Register of Historic Structures, and located in the Wyman Historic District.
Now to the good stuff! Castle Marne is located very close to everything in downtown, and about a half hour or so away from the airport. It is very safe there, and they regularly change the code on the door so it’s extremely safe!
Each room is different, and because I had an opportunity to stay for about a week or so I got a chance to look at all of them. Some are quite large, and would make an excellent accommodation for a romantic evening (with Jacuzzi, etc.!) Other rooms are quaint and smaller. Each room has a sign-in book that you can write in and read what all the other people that have stayed in your room had to say! It’s very interesting!

Of course, each room is unique, but all have that soft and relaxing feel to them. I was on a business trip, but I have to tell you that it was so much more relaxing staying in a bed and breakfast. There were no desks in my room, so I worked on my laptop on my bed, but it was still totally worth it! One day, I took my laptop to the common room and sat in a sunny corner at a desk and it was heaven!
Of course, what would a bed and breakfast be....without breakfast! And what a breakfast it is! Seriously yummy! Don’t sleep in for this! Freshly baked morning breakfast items along with eggs, quiche, etc. The menu items can be customized if you have different eating necessities. It’s definitely a warm and welcome atmosphere.
Speaking of food, they also have an afternoon tea! Yummy little snacks are put out along with your choice of tea. It’s so wonderful!
I know that Castle Marne also will do dinners for people as well as cater and host weddings! Any special occasion is welcome, as I understand it!
The rates are pretty normal for a bed and breakfast. A bit higher perhaps than a normal hotel room. Most are a little over a hundred dollars a night. A listing of rates can be found HERE .
For a wonderful stay, for one night, a romantic weekend, or even (as in my case) a business trip where you are alone, Castle Marne is a wonderful choice. Don’t forget to enjoy the huge circular stained-glass window as you walk up the stairs, and get ready to enjoy your relaxing stay!
