Best Things Nearby:
We drove to Bodmin and saw the Steam Railway and visited the Duke of Cornwall Military Museum. Newquay was not far away if you want a larger town to visit.

Fowey and Padstow are lovely little fishing villages quite close by, and both can be seen in 1 day. The Cathedral City of Truro is also within easy reach and well worth seeing. The Eden Project is a short distance away, and tickets can be purchased prior to arrival to speed up the entry process. There is Tintagel, with the remains of the castle and lovely Boscastle recovering from the terrible floods in 2004.

Much can be learned about the history of the tin mines from local visits, and there is the Goonhilly Earth Station, which has a lot of educational value for those with children. From Penzance, day trips are taken to the Isles of Scilly and a short drive farther are Newlyn and Mousehole.

Best Things About the Resort:
The peace and tranquility of this resort was very welcome.

The staff at reception was always helpful, assisting in any way they could. We needed the local health centre during our stay for a minor injury and they kindly made all the arrangements for us, which was a great help being in a strange area.

Our lodge was large and comfortable. Not having to pay gas and electricity charges was a bonus and unusual in the UK. The main bathroom was exceptionally large and luxurious, with a separate shower, two sinks, toilet, and bidet. The second bedroom also had an en-suite bathroom. In the kitchen we found plenty of pots and cutlery and items were of a good standard.

There was a lovely indoor swimming pool that could be accessed from the reception area, and exercise equipment was available for those wanting to be energetic during their stay. Above the reception was a beautiful hall that could be rented for wedding receptions or other social events. For those wanting to relax after a day exploring, there was a comfortable bar area.

A family of ducks had chosen Lake View as their home and could be seen wandering around the lodges, mother and father being followed closely by their babies. Many visitors could be seen feeding them from their lodge windows. Rabbits could also be seen around the grounds, especially at dusk.

Resort Experience:
The resort is in Lanivet, just a short drive from Bodmin. Most of the accommodation was in A-frame lodges. Ours was a two-bedroom, two-bath, with a lounge, kitchen, dining area, and one bedroom with a bathroom en-suite downstairs. The second bedroom upstairs had an especially large bathroom, separate shower, and bath with a Jacuzzi.

We found Lake View to be in a good position as far as travelling to the various nearby tourist attractions, and we avoided being in the traffic jams that would have been the case had we been a little farther along the route. This was especially the case on our journey home.

It would certainly be of no use whatsoever visiting this resort without a car, as you would be totally stranded. It is quite some way from the main road, travelling down country lanes, and not, as far as we could see, close to any bus routes. It would probably require a taxi into Bodmin to be able to get to a bus.

We did enjoy our stay and the relaxing atmosphere of the resort and would certainly return again in the future if visiting the area.

Best Things Nearby:
The Eden project is a huge exhibit focusing on plants and gardens which includes two domes and a large outdoor display. The attraction is within 15 minutes of the resort and is very child friendly.

Lanhydrock is a gorgeous restored estate buidling, gardens, and park that is also very close to the resort. They had scavenger hunts for kids that kept them entertained.

Other neat towns to visit within an hours drive include Plymouth, St. Ives, Port Isaac, and Fooey.

Best Things About the Resort:
The indoor pool, locker rooms, and sauna were very nice. Also, it's central location and spacious three bedroom units.

Resort Experience:
Our family of six stayed at this resort July 10 through 17th, 2004. The 3 bedroom, 3 bath unit was spacious and relatively updated. The third bedroom was quite small, however, with no room to store the kids' suitcases.

The kitchen was stocked with most things you would need. It took us a while to find the combination washer/dryer unit in the kitchen. It took us even longer to figure out how to use it. We weren't sure if this was common in Europe, but we were surprised to have only a mini fridge in a 3 bedroom unit.

The master bath did have a jacuzzi tub, but we were unable to use it due to the terrible water. Brown, muddy flakes came out of all the faucets, making it impossible to bathe. The resort provided as much bottled water as you wanted for cooking and drinking, but of course it didn't help the bathing and washing situation at all.

As far as the resort amenities, the indoor pool was nice. There was also a little outdoor walking path that we used on occassion. The rest of the resort activites were quite lacking. There were no organized activites, no children's program as advertised. (They said it was not in season yet in mid July?) They had a "bubble" that they called the activites center that was not very nice looking inside with a half broken ping pong table, etc.

The resort was somewhat in the boonies, but centrally located for visiting the cute English villages in Cornwall. There were 2 nice grocery stores within a 10 to 15 minute drive. Highlights of our sightseeing included the town of Plymouth, the Eden project, Fooey, St. Michael's Mount Castle, St. Ives, and the estate of Lanhydrock. We also really enjoyed the double decker bus tour in London that we took before our stay in Cornwall.

Overall, we had a very nice vacation. The resort was spacious, but could use improvement in activites and especially the water. As we have never stayed in a Eurpoean tmeshare before, we have nothing else to compare it to.

Best Things Nearby:
Bodmin Moor (for peace and magnificent scenery) - Newquay (for surfers and nightlife) - The Eden Project - The North Cornwall Coast (Beaches and Rugged Scenery)

Best Things About the Resort:
The tranquility of the location - the standards of maintenance of both the grounds and the units

Resort Experience:
The units were "A Frame" lodges - ours had a double bedroom and bathroom upstairs and another bedrom (twin) and bathroom downstairs together with a lounge/diner and kitchen.

There was also a pair of fold-up beds downstairs.

The equipment in the lodge was very comprehensive although we were a little disappointed that there was only the most basic 4-channels available on the TV - still, we weren't there to watch TV.

The restaurant on site was very high quality and served lunches and dinner, but no breakfast. There was only an a-la carte menu available (with prices to match) and we felt that we couldn't take our 4 and 7 year-olds in there. Local super markets were only 10 minutes drive away.

There was some kind of activity every day but these were a little limited. Evening Entertainment was on Saturday evening plus a midweek quiz night and was a bit of a disappointment.

The other facilities on-site were very comprehensive and very high quality.

Cleanliness, maintenance and housekeeping cannot be faulted and our only comment was that the floorboards on the upper floor in our lodge creaked a bit, but this is probably just a feature of the construction.

There was no charge for gas or electricity and a cleaner came round mid week. There was a charge if a change of bedding was required midweek but this seemed entirely reasonable.

The description of the ‘modern style’ rooms in our guidebook didn’t give us a very clear idea of what to expect, but we booked ahead mainly due to the combination of price and location.

We were very pleased with the hotel when we arrived. With an oldish façade, but fully renovated rooms with all modern conveniences (TV, A/C, en suite bath and shower), the hotel had every comfort. Located in the residential part of the city centre, our rooms were on both occasions (front facing and side facing) peaceful enough for two light sleepers. Both in the mornings and after our afternoon siestas, we woke to the sound of swallows wheeling above.

And don’t be concerned about how far away the hotel is from the Cathedral. It is a very pleasant 10 minute stroll either down Passeig De La Rambla, or Sant Miquel straight to Placa Major.

67 euros a night for a double at the end of April. Credit cards accepted.
