camping villaggio Baia del Sole

The one-star camp site is about 7 km from Porto towards Campese, right on the verge of the sea. It's not very large, but it has places for tents as well as campers. It also has little huts available (they are really little). This was not peak season and we got in without reservations, in August a reservation is most probably needed. The bar serves meals and drinks as well as sells fresh bread and fruit, and other food and necessities. The shuttle buses to the towns stop almost at the gate of the site. In short, the facilities are basic and OK. Drinkable water was rationed during our stay - understandably. The best thing about this camp site is the immediate vicinity of the sea, falling asleep and waking to the sound of the waves. The rock beach is not one for toddlers to splash about, but offers lots of secluded spots for sun bathing as well as walking or diving into the sea. If the sea is rough, the rocks are too sharp and slippery for swimming, and you should go to another beach, e.g. Cannelle. Giglio is a perfect snorkel/scuba place - whatever there is to see, you'll see it well in the clear waters.

From journal Giglio island - less is more
