On this exchange, we had a one-bedroom unit on the second floor with a sunny exposure on the deck all day. The unit is large, with a living room that has a sleeper sofa, a large chair, and armoire with TV, VCR, and CD stereo player. The decor was like new and very tasteful. The bathroom has custom millwork, all in cherrywood with his and her sinks, tub, and a good-size separate shower. The balcony has two chairs and a small round table, and the balcony has a view of Singer Island and the beach. The kitchen is adequate, with a countertop hot plate, microwave, and full-size fridge. A small dining area with a glass table for four is between the living room and kitchen area. The bedroom has a king-size bed with armoire with two drawers, one end table with drawers, one lamp table, and a 27" TV. Housekeeping changes towels every day and does a complete clean-up, including linens midweek.
The architectural flair of building is designed around the Breakers, and the buildings, rooms, and site are well-maintained by a uniformed, neat-appearing, professional, well-mannered staff. One problem is that for laundry, there is only one washer and dryer per floor at $1.25 for the washer and $1 for the dryer; they are in use most of the time.
The resort has a mandatory charge for parking ($5 per day) that includes valet service and $1 per day for a room safe.
The swimming pool is laid out great, with plenty of padded lounges; towels are supplied at the pool. The adult hot tub is in a secluded area. The children’s pool is shallow and not heated; however, the main pool has a roped-off area for children, and the pool is heated. They have tiki cages with exotic birds and exotic squirrels in various areas around the pool. The kids love the birds and exotic squirrels.
A large tiki bar with plenty of bar stools is located in the pool area. The bar has happy hour everyday from 4pm until 8pm, with $1 draft beers, $2 well drinks, and $4 wine. Frozen drinks are a pricey $7 each. You can order appetizers, salads, and sandwiches from the bar.
They have live entertainment at the pool area that starts at 11am and continues through the afternoon. The music is entertaining.
The resort is very good for families with children, and the resort-sponsored Beach Buddies Kid’s Club is great. The kids can actually learn some crafts while on vacation.
