The Kowloon Hotel

Great Hotel, great location! The main attraction to the hotel was the service and the location. Hotel staff are very nice and friendly. Located directly above the MTR/KCR station. Also situated near all the Kowloon side shopping attractions, Right in the heart of TsimShaTsui (TST). The room was a little small but quite a good size compared to other hotels in Hong Kong, it has everything we need. I have no problem recommending this hotel to all.

Ideal choice for budget-conscious business and leisure travelers to Hong Kong. The Kowloon Hotel is located conveniently next to Hong Kong's underground railway system (MTR) and a short walk from the Star Ferry and the China Ferry Terminal. The Kowloon Canton Railway terminus is also just a few minutes' drive from the Kowloon Hotel, while Hong Kong International Airport is easily accessible either by taxi or via the Express Railway. Located on Nathan Road in one of the city's finest shopping and entertainment districts, the Kowloon Hotel offers 730 streamlined guestrooms and suites, fully equipped with modern in-room amenities. Leisure options offered at the Kowloon Hotel include a personal workout at the YMCA fitness center and swimming pool.

The Kowloon Hotel

We made our reservations on the Internet, and breakfast was not included. The hotel entrance was crowded by some road work, but taxis, shuttles, and tour buses had no problems driving you to the door. This hotel lies at an angle to busy Nathan Road, though the noise levels were pretty low on the 13th floor.

The lobby was pretty open and the check-in lady was very helpful. There were not that many non-smoking rooms, so we opted for a floor on a high level--hoping for a view.

The room turned out to the smallest hotel room I've ever encountered in my life. It was definitely a room for one. There was hardly any space to hang up clothes, let alone leave one's suitcase lying down. This was a standard-size room.

Otherwise, there were the usual: (tiny) bathroom with freebies, comfortable bed, desk with compact office space (TV/PC with Internet access), refrigerator, kettle with complimentary tea and coffee. The TV was oddly placed--I couldn't lie in bed and watch without an extra pillow.

There was not much of a view, either--just the busy side streets of Tsim Sha Tsui.

All in all, it was okay for a few days, but more of a businessman's room than a vacationer's.

We stayed here in 95, so I can't verify the price. The best thing about this hotel is the location, and they had a super breakfast buffet. The downside, this is a modern new hotel but the rooms are very small.
