St. Christopher's Inn-The Villiage

This was my first time staying in a hostel, and it couldn't have been better. St. Christopher's has a fun and friendly staff, a comfortable feel, and it's really fun!

We arrived at 7 am and couldn't check in until 2pm, but they have a locked room to put your bags in and a chill-out room where you can hang out in, watch movies, play games, etc. Breakfast in the morning was coffee, cereal, and toast, and it's a savior for those mornings when you spent too much time at their bar Belushi's. We met great people, had a blast, slept well, and would go back in a second. We actally booked a hotel for the last two nights in London, spent one night there, and went back to the hostel.

It's located in London's eastside, within walking distance to London Bridge and the Tower of London. The neighboorhood is friendly and we found plenty of great places to eat.

~$15/night/person. Very cool. The hostel is actually in two buildings. The main building is where the offices are and the "common" room where they serve breakfast. There is also a pub underneath it. The other part (called the Orient Expresso), is down the street, and is where we stayed. It’s a little newer and has lots of floors, it has a coffee bar underneath it. It’s not in the BEST neighborhood, but it’s a fun hostel, with keycard-required access to everything. We never felt unsafe. We had a room with 3 bunkbeds, perfect for 6 people. The pub was really cool and had a DJ that would play anything we asked ("Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"), and served up lots of beer for L5 a pint. Watch out tho: alcohol content is higher outside the US! There’s also a laundry room IN THE PUB with only 2 washers and dryers and they were broken while we were there. The breakfast in the morning is sufficient: cereal, toast, jam, coffee, milk, oj… Don’t eat at the pub! We ate lunch there on our first day (after being awake for 30 hours, so we were just TIRED and HUNGRY)… and it was BAD! The hostel is good, though!
