We stayed in a cheery room called the Bostonian, outfitted with twin beds covered in yellow floral duvets and decorated with needlepoint views of Boston. Across the hall was a lovely bathroom with shower and claw-footed tub, antique dressing table with basin for shaving, and plenty of space and light.
The house offers a back deck or front porch with rocking chairs for warm weather, and fireplaces in the parlor and living room for winter.
A hearty breakfast is served from 8 to 10, and refreshments are offered to guests during the day.
Note on pricing: rates vary according to season. Check the Marshall Slocum House website.
