Excellent Hotel, Excellently Staffed

Excellent Hotel, Excellently Staffed

Not my favourite five-star hotel ever but quite close.

The hotel, unfortunately as with most InterContinentals, does not look too impressive on the outside, but once inside, an overwhelming sensation of goodness envelopes the guest.
The lobby is lavishly furnished in the velvet-and-gold style of the Imperial Vienna.
Staff is ever-courteous, helpful, elegant and educated from the Front Desk Manager to the Housekeeping valet and, very specially, their Chief Concierge (a great asset).

Rooms range from very good to excellent thanks to their size, the new huge plasma televisions, hi-fi system, wireless & cable internet connection, big bathrooms -even for European standards- certainly clean, full minibar, exquisite amenities.

One other very good point is its good location, right in front of a major underground station and close to the geographical centre of the city.

Wonderful for romantic trips as well as business.

Guest rooms usualy fall between 200 and 400 Euros.

Inter-Continental Wien

Yes, this hotel was a definite extravagance--BUT--We loved it! Everyone needs to feel special from time to time, and everything about the hotel says "You are special!"

Fluffy white bathrobes, overstuffed bed comforters, fine quality shampoos, lotions and scented soaps all contribute to the feel of luxury we experienced during our stay at the Inter-Continental Hotel.

Rooms are extremely comfortable with huge closets, cozy bed linens and comforters, and CLEAN carpeted floors! (So often in Europe, I find clean rooms with ''nasty'' carpets!!) TV, Room Service and Telephone Services were the best, of course!

Our room overlooked the Stadtpark (City Park) and each morning we awoke to the sound of the birds in the park across the street. Tour services are readily available from the hotel and many tours start here. Cab service is available to and from the hotel--normal charges apply.

The hotel has a comfortable bar and an extravagant pastry shop where you can order light meals or snacks. This is a wonderful hotel!!! Special touches like a well-lighted make-up mirror, tastefully framed prints, hand made Belgium Chocolates on your pillow at bedtime all make the stay worthwhile. The pleasant staff members all speak English and you will have no language problem. A magnificent place to stay if you want or need some luxury!
