We were struck by the low-key, friendly nature of the place. Many of the people we met at the RCI meet-and-greet were locals (i.e. Virginians), some of whom seemed to live just down the road. Some of them owned several weeks at the resort which tells you a lot. The only problem faced by the sales rep was his lack of inventory... this resort is pretty well sold out and that should tell you something too.
There is a nice little Greek restaurant on site with some outdoor tables overlooking the beach. There is also an indoor pool, an exercise room and if you feel the need to go fishing, the pier is a short walk. Parking is on-site and it is covered.
Those are the details...the beach in front is clean and wide and the swimming is incredible. There is a nice little surf here and the dolphins will entertain you in the morning as they parade up the beach. We were fortunate enough to be there at the time of the Oceana Air Show and I thought at one point that two of the Blue Angels were going to land on the balcony.
We didn't stray far from the resort because we didn't want to. I will add, however, that should you arrive, and the drive has been long and you just want to go out for a quick bite to eat without getting back into your car, don't bother with the Atlantic Ave. restaurants to the rear. Go downstairs... if it's not open try another resort up the boardwalk. You want to see more? Try foursails

The next day we were moved to unit 601. The microwave didn't work, the oven only cooked at 550 and the windows sweated so bad we used the free morning papers to keep the water from pouring onto the floor. There was no heat outside of the rooms and the office, so the indoor swimming pool was usless. The parking is atrocious. The staff doesn't know how to handle an emergency. And management doesn't give a damn about the problems of the clientele. I also noticed that the RCI excellence awards stopped abruptly in 1995. I wonder why?

Basics: Televisions (2). No washer or dryer - laundry room on the 3rd floor. Queen-size bed in master bedroom; two single beds in the 2nd bedroom; pull-out sofa in living room. Balconies overlooking the ocean from the living room, as well as the master bedroom. There was a small exercise room. There is also a restaurant attached to the resort. Although it didn't seem to be very busy, we ate there a few times, and were satisfied with our meals. Parking garage, as well as an additional lot for overflow. Some of the parking facilities made for a tight squeeze. A bigger car than my Mercury Mystique may have had problems maneauvering. Just watch out for the other fellow! Lots to see and do in this area.
The resort did not bug you with sales pitches to buy a timeshare unit. In fact, they had a rule that you could only make reservations to stay there once every 3 years. Personnel at the front desk were helpful.
You'll enjoy your stay!

In the end, assured that we would have little problem finding accomodation in the shoulder season between Easter and mid summer, we decided on a DIY multi-centre approach. We rang ahead and reserved 2 nights in Hotel Cannes in Palma (see my Palma entry) and 2 nights in Hotel Guià in Sóller, and then play the rest by ear. After Sóller, we found a wonderful hotel in Port de Pollença, and then headed back to Hotel Cannes for a final 2 nights of style and tapas in the capital.
If you have both the time and the patience to make the arrangements, I would recommend a 2-centre stay in Mallorca – in Palma and Port de Pollença, or Pollença where you are in easy reach of the beach and the mountains.
