My husband and I stayed at the Ski View Mountain Resort for our honeymoon last May and we loved everything about it! We had plenty of room, spectacular views, friendly staff, and most of the time we had the pool and the hot tub all to ourselves. The private balcony overlooking the smokies was a favorite as well. It was very affordable and we also saved money eating out because there is a full kitchen. They even provide cookware and dinnerware! We were even able to do laundry in the room.
At first it was a little scary getting up the mountain to the resort but after a couple days we were use to it. At the bottom of the mountain there is a little party store with the friendliest store owners you would ever meet. They sell a few grocery items, pizza, subs, salads, and they even rent out movies.
The staff was friendly when we arrived, then we really didn't see anyone after that. Us honeymooners appreciated the privacy. On the drive home to MI my husband realized he left his suit in the closet. We called the resort and they said they would mail back to MI for us. I really didn't think they would. Everyone knows when you leave something at a hotel, its pretty much gone. Luckily, 2 weeks later his suit arrived! They went out of their way even after we checked out!

Best Things About the Resort:
It was quiet and secluded, with a nice view and BEARS in the parking lot!
Resort Experience:
It is in the perfect location in Gatlinburg; traffic light no. 10 is the last light before entering the national park. There are several great restaurants near light no. 10. Unfortunately, the resort is about a mile straight up from light no. 10, so you can't walk to anything. There are two small stores on the way up the steep, winding road. The resort is small, but it was clean and un-crowded, and the kids had the indoor pool all to themselves. The screened porch was clean and had a rollaway bed on it, so the kids "camped out" there. We had to buy extra toilet paper and Kleenex. There was one small box of detergent provided and dish soap.

Approx.2000 feet up in the Smoky's and a great view.
Resort Experience:
The accomadations were great. It's getting to them that was a little scary. Right up the mountain we went on a narrow windy road, no guard rails and very few lights. Luckily we had no fog all week.

The Amanpuri

The Amanpuri is the most magnificent hotel I have ever seen. Luxurious accommodations amid a spectacular setting. Tall, straight palm trees bordering on and reflecting into private, black-tiled pools. More help than you can shake a stick at and every modern convenience except one - T.V. And I didn't even realize there was no T.V. for a few days. (On Phi Phi Island not only was the T.V. missing but so was the hot water.) The Amanpuri Hotel defines luxury.
