Best Things Nearby:
Restaurants, shopping, ferry boat to Martha's Vineyard, and the beach

Best Things About the Resort:
The unit was very spacious, two stories, and conveniently located to the grocery store, restaurants, and shops.

Resort Experience:
I would describe this resort as plain and simple, nothing fancy. The one pool is an outdoor pool and was drained since it was off-season when we were there. There is a small outside playground for the kids and a room with board games and books to check out. There is no electronic game room or indoor activities available. The units are like townhouses, with an upstairs and downstairs and an entrance directly to the outdoors. There is plenty of parking.

The dining room and living room area is really one room that provides plenty of space for socializing. The kitchen is long and narrow and a bit crowded if more than one person is trying to prepare the meals. Furnishings were very plain. The top of refrigerator was dusty, and a few cobwebs were spotted on the ceiling. There is a TV and VCR in the living room and an extra TV in one of the bedrooms. There is no DVD player or CD/radio. There is a small, enclosed patio area in the backyard with a grill. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The resort is located at the most southwest part of Cape Cod. This was convenient for us, as we wanted to travel to Plymouth, MA, which was only a 30-minute drive away. It is a bit of a drive to get back to Route 6, which is one of the major highways that cut across the cape. There is easy access to Route 28, but there is a lot of traffic on this road and many rotary circles to get through. The resort does provide some good directions and advice on how to get around avoiding Routt 28. Another good point about the resort is that is has full cooking facilities in the units, as many of the older resorts on the Cape are converted motels and do not even allow a hot plate in the room. There are many pros and cons to consider when choosing this resort.

Best Things Nearby:
Shopping, factory outlets, restaurants, beaches, and lots of seafood.

Best Things About the Resort:
Briarwood is located in Falmouth, at the southwestern end of the Cape, within 2 miles of many beaches and about a mile from town. It's also a short drive to Woods Hole, where you can take the ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

Resort Experience:
Our two-bedroom townhouse had a fully-equipped kitchen and a living/dining room combination with a pullout queen sofa, loveseat, and 27-inch TV with VCR. Sliding glass doors opened to a private patio with a charcoal grill. There was a half bath on the first floor. On the second floor, there was a master bedroom with queen-size bed and TV. The second bedroom had twin beds. The bathroom was located between the bedrooms and was nothing fancy-shower/tub combination and sink vanity. Our unit was clean and in good repair.

Briarwood is not a high-end resort. It's a homey, comfortable, no-frills place. The are two lighted tennis courts, volleyball, basketball court, shuffleboard, two horseshoe pits, a picnic area, outdoor heated pool (seasonal), and children's playground. The clubhouse has a sauna and shower, kitchen, TV and VCR, restroom facilities, and coin-operated laundry.

Best Things Nearby:
Famouth is a great location to stay on the Cape for several reasons. It's a short drive in from the "entrance" to the Cape at Bourne Bridge, and it's also far enough in so that you can take a day trip up to the very tip of the Cape (Provincetown) within a couple of hours.

Best Things About the Resort:
Small resort so everyone can walk to the pool. Family friendly and helpful staff.

Resort Experience:
Briarwood resort is about two miles away from the beaches in Falmouth. Most of the units are townhouse style with two bedrooms upstairs (queen bed in one bedroom and two twins in the other). There is also a full bathroom upstairs. Downstairs is a kitchen, living room with dining area, and half bath. We stayed in one of the eight or so ranch style units on the property, which we enjoyed more since there were no stairs. It was a bit difficult having only one full bathroom with three kids.

The resort is clean and spacious and the staff is friendly. The pool is small but adequate. There is no kiddie pool but the adult pool starts at three feet. As with most resorts on the Cape, this is definitely not a Gold Crown resort and it's easy to tell. There were torn screens in the unit, some of the sheets had shrunk too much to fit the beds (they were easily replaced), and there are none of the fancy amenities you might find in a Gold Crown resort, such as a Jacuzzi or a TV in each bedroom. There was one TV in the living room and one in the master bedroom. Also, all masters have queen sized beds rather than king sized ones, which may be an issue for some.

However, despite all this, I would stay at this resort again. They gladly gave us a cot when it was determined that the mattress on the pull-out couch had springs poking through, and the cot was comfortable. You can also easily walk to the pool from any unit. There is a nice playgroud on the property, as well as some mimimal events at the pool area (i.e. bingo) in the afternoons. The unit was air-conditioned, with units in both bedrooms as well as the living room. The units also have nice, fenced-in areas in the back for extra privacy.

Falmouth is a good location to stay on the Cape because it is a short drive in (hence, not as much traffic to worry about) and near some other great towns.
