Sunterra Resorts Sea mountain at Punalu'u

Best Things Nearby:
Black sands beach nearby. A great morning walk. Golf course is fun. Green sea turtles nest here year round. Near Volcano's National Park. This is the Southern most point in the USA, great ocean views. A great Hawaii getaway!

Best Things About the Resort:
All of these condos are great. The singles are a little small for more than 2 but the one bedrooms sleep 4 privately and comfortably. The 2 bedrooms are really big and luxurious. The pool and hot tub are fantastic, in a beautiful, tropical setting overlooking the golf course and ocean. Good bbq, ice. Tennis courts across the street.

Resort Experience:
This is a little out of the way. There is NO nightlife here, other than the crash of the ocean waves. It takes about an hour from Hilo airport or 90 minutes from Kona.

The best beaches are North toward Kona about 30 miles, although the black sand beach, Punaaluu, is very nearby and great for wading and sunning. It is a little too rough down here for swimming safely. There is a natural soak pool at Whittenton Beach, behind the bathhouse, that offers a safe harbor in a natural setting. There are great places to eat in Naalehu and in Volcano, which is about 45 minutes away.

Best Things Nearby:
Punalu'u Black-Sand Beach and South Point (the most southern point of the USA).

Best Things About the Resort:
This was a nice, remote timeshare away from the hustle of the city life, a little like old Hawaii.

Resort Experience:
The units are very comfortable with all the things you need to cook and eat at the condo. The living room had a murphy bed, and the bedroom had a queen or double bed. Don't expect new or fancy, as it has a remote, less traveled state of life.

The condo has a view of the golf course that runs along the edge of it. Also, you can see the ocean in the distance.

It is a quiet place to stay. The wind does blow a lot in this area because it's at the southern tip area. This would not be great for families since there is not much nearby and not many kids there. This is a wonderful, quiet place to be together, and great for those who plan to go sightseeing in the Hilo and Kona areas since it's midway between them.
