This hotel has a beautiful location on the ocean in Hilo and has great potential, but is extremely rundown. Rumour has it this hotel is going to be bought by a major chain and upgraded (this came from the bellman and if true would be great). We stayed on the ninth floor, which was very rundown with extremely old washroom facilites. Our room still had chips on the carpet under the edge of the bed. Even after a long days travel we almost left. The next day we complained and they moved us to the eleventh floor, which was completely redone and was much better. It was clean, relatively modern, and had everything we needed, including a good view. If you stay here ask at check-in for one of the redone rooms (any on the eleventh floor are new). The hotel staff were relatively friendly and accommodated us as soon as we asked, but did not mention it until we asked.
