Scottsdale Camelback Resort

Best Things Nearby:
Scottsdale gave me an impression that it is a resort/retirement community with an easygoing lifestyle. Some of the best places for families to visit are the Old Town Shopping Center, the Desert Botanical Garden, Out-of-Africa Wildlife Park, Rawhide Old West Theme Park Museum, and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin Center. Also not to be missed, either for visit or stay, are some of the best-rated luxury hotels in the world like The Phoenician and Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort at Gainey Ranch. If you love golf, search no longer for a paradise.

Best Things About the Resort:
The wilderness of Camelback Mountain is right at its backyard--yes, just behind its fence. Turn your face the other way and you can see a road to all the modern conveniences of a city life. Also, the weather. The best months are March, April, October and November with temperature in comfortable seventys or eightys with lots of sunshine.

Resort Experience:
The Scottsdale Camelback Resort is located at the foot of Camelback Mountain, just 20 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. The resort is Spanish-style with lush green landscape accented by a desert garden, which blends in nicely with the backdrop of Camelback mountain. I loved to meander through the resort in the morning with plenty of sun and nice breeze.

The resort had a picnic area with a barbecue grill, a vollyball court, two tennis courts, a fairly large swimming pool with a jacuzzi, an exercise room with adequate equipment and weights, a café, a shop, and a nine-hole miniature golf course. One day my family just stayed in the resort doing nothing but play golf, exercise, swim, and lounge around.

The two-bedroom unit has a spacious master bedroom with a queen-size bed and a decent second bedroom with two twin-size beds. The master bathroom comes with a private jacuzzi with a tub large enough for two small adults. The living and dining area are combined but separated by a sofa to create a spacious but distinctive ambience. A patio outside is enclosed by a wall and furnished with a patio set, but the units on the second floor have rails instead of a wall and, therefore, provide a more open view.

The unit comes with adequate equipment and furnishings in all places including kitchen and bathroom. Having a washer and a dryer in the unit was very convenient for my family who change clothes like chameleons. The only lack was a hair-dryer, which I had to request from the housekeeping.

The service of the staff members was excellent. They apologized politely if guests had to wait and provided directions and guidance whenever asked for. One lady even remembered my name after an initial contact at the reception. Their hospitable attitude seemed to reflect the relaxed lifestyle of the resort-oriented city.

Best Things Nearby:
All the shopping, the restaurants, and visits to Sedona, the Grand Canyon, and others.

Best Things About the Resort:
I enjoyed most the whirlpool even though it was summer! The travel agent was friendly and helpful about the area, the restaurant was very reasonably priced and had a variety of good healthy choices.

Resort Experience:
This is a family fun resort, although you can also enjoy some romantic evenings by the pool. You should not miss going to Sedona, which is about a two hour ride on beautiful scenic country.

This resort was comfortable and friendly. The bar by the pool comes alive at night. The mist to keep the air cool is on all throughout the day and evening, making it pleasant to be out in the heat.

Old Scottsdale, Fashion Square, The Phoenician, Desert Botanical Gardens, Zoo, Heard Museum, Golf.

Best Things About the Resort:
Beautiful pool, great location, very nice rooms.

Resort Experience:
We stayed at this resort twice - once in a two bedroom unit and once in a studio. The two bedroom was fantastic - lots of room, including a laundry room with washer/dryer. The studio was nice too, with a bedroom in an upstairs loft, but there is only one bathroom and that is off the master bedroom on the first floor. So if someone is staying in the loft, they have to go through the master to use the bathroom. In the middle of the night, that could be annoying.

There is a beautiful pool. It would benefit from the addition of more umbrellas or shade areas, now that we are all more sun conscious. There were some festivities by the pool, such as a Mexican buffet, that were fun. There was a house masseuse who gave me one of the best massages I've ever had.

Most of all, this resort is centrally located for seeing Phoenix, Scottsdale, and for heading off on day trips.

Best Things Nearby:
Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall, Camelback Mountain, and old town Scottsdale.

Best Things About the Resort:
The staff are so friendly, the facilities are great - you can choose to do as much or as little as you want. The bar beside the pool provides a lovely way to relax and talk to other guests after a long day exploring Phoenix in the searing heat.

Resort Experience:
We stayed in a studio. This was more spacious than any studio we have ever stayed in. There is a fully fitted kitchen, which is open plan to the living room. Downstairs there is also a double bed, which can be enclosed by wall to floor curtains. Upstairs, there is a large bedroom with access to your own small terrace, which had amazing views over the cactus garden and the Camelback Mountains immediately behind the resort.

Although not stated in the RCI description, the accommodation is non-smoking. However, you can smoke in all other areas of the resort.

On sight there is a large pool with jacuzzi and a large childrens pool, which is shaded. There is a bar and grille also by the pool, which meant that we could relax close to our studio and enjoy some good food, drink, and the company of the other guests who came from all over the country.
