Unsafe Area, Useless Staff, Do Not Stay Here!

Stayed for 2nights recently (April 10th and 11th 2009) in a room on the lower floor- this was the 1st bad thing. You have to walk down the dark scary parking lot to get to your room. We only went to eat fast food on the first night (5min walk from the hotel), but it was very scary to be out after dark in the area.
Walls are very thin, you can hear everything from outside and above floors, from kids yelling to people walking, showering, everything! All night and early morning= terrible sleep!
Not a very safe area as there were cops at the hotel on the first night; when we asked the receptionist about this, she said "it’s like that all the time". Felt like something from the movies.
Shuttle service is NOT 24hour as stated, and they are not very organized with picking you up because the bus is not marked and they pick you up based on your description of what you look like! There are SO many people at LAX so that's kind of hard to do!
The internet is NOT FREE!!! FALSE ADVERTISING!!! They charge you 35c per minute which isn’t bad, but the minimum charged is $3USD- so we only used it for emergency planning when the fake shuttle service lacked service!
Reception is not very helpful and they are rude, specifically the man who works the night shift, he has no emotion and never smiles and looks like he was raised from the dead (with glasses).
My sister's socks were stolen which was odd, because they cleaned the room while we were out in Anaheim on the first day. Normally regular hotels don’t clean until you’re checked out and they definitely don’t clean when you are not there! I was concerned of leaving cash, cell phone, and passport in the room on the 2nd day, so I took them with me. When we told them about the missing socks they didn’t care and said they couldn’t do anything. She never got them back. Socks aren’t a big deal, and we actually thought it was kind of silly, but imagine if something more valuable went missing!
Overall, not a good experience, do not stay here! $10 more and you can get something MUCH BETTER!

I booked a room with two queen beds through the Travelodge website and got a special web rate. I arrived the hotel at around 10:30pm. The man at the front desk (unfortunately, I didn’t get his name) asked me if I made a reservation. I said that I did and I gave him my name. He didn’t seem to find the reservation and took a look of my confirmation paper that I printed from Travelodge website. He then asked me what kind of rate I got for the room. I told him that the rate was shown on the confirmation paper that he had. He became impatient and said he couldn’t find the rate. I then took a look of my paper, told him that I booked it through Travelodge website and it gave me this special web rate. He then became very rude and started accusing me of yelling at him. I was polite and patiently answered his questions the whole time, not rude at all. He then said there was no such rate and asked me if I had some form of membership discount, like AAA membership. I asked him if I would get the same rate if I have such membership. He answered no rudely. He then turned around and went to the other room. Not knowing what he was about to do, I called my boyfriend, who was waiting at the car, to come in. The man at the front desk acted in a way that I felt I was physically threatening. He then came out of the room talking on the phone about my reservation. When he got off the phone, he said that he'd honor the rate by using a senior discount of 25%. He was still very rude at the time. My boyfriend and I felt that we didn't deserve this kind of treatment and that we didn't feel safe staying in the hotel, so we told the man that we weren't going to stay in the hotel. He then said rudely that it's fine with him, but that we wouldn't find the same rate around the area as he did all the rates for eight hotels around the area. He said he was the one to put all the rates on the website and that he never put the special web rate on the website. I told him that we'd decided to cancel the reservation and he could go ahead and charged me for one night since I didn't cancel in time. He then said that he wouldn't charge me out of "courtesy". We then left the hotel and found a nearby hotel with much better customer service.
