The downside is that the hotel is not in Acapulco proper--it is in Puerto Marquez--so it's far away from the party scene if that is what you like. Cab fares are expensive, however most of the places you would want to go would be difficult to park at so I'm not sure renting a car is a good solution.
If you particularly want a quiet place to stay that is spacious and don't mind the cab fares, I recommend this resort highly. It isn't a full service resort so there aren't particular activities for kids, but since I have none I didn't mind this. There were more elderly folks than families here.

This was our second time staying here so obvioulsy we love it. We have stayed in 3 different rooms.
Our room for two nights on this trip was the Premium Deluxe suite pictured here.
A spacious room with king-size bed, fireplace, sofa-bed, and a stunning view of the St.Lawrence river. It has a small balcony with a table. We had breakfast in our room one day to enjoy our private view. The room has a sauna (though small) and a nice whirlpool bath for two as well as a shower.
The dining is wonderful- both the food and the view.
