Best Things About the Resort:
The Pool is AWESOME! And that is no understatement! It's so long you can't see from one end to the other and the depth never gets deeper then 5 feet, so you can walk/swim from one end to the other. It has some waterfalls, bridges to go under, and an area with a wall that you can lean on and look out at the ocean.
Resort Experience:
This place is definitely built to impress you on arrival. In order to get to the lobby, a U-shaped pavilion with marble floors and enormous thatched roof, you have to walk through what they call the "Mayan temple". It's a big room with music playing and a big stone statue—very nicely done. The lobby has a big pond with a fountain and an ocean view. Needless to say we were impressed.Our rooms were equally nice and our maid kept everything clean and neat. We had a little dipping pool on the deck, that we didn't ever use—it was never warm enough, we only got the morning sun on that side.A couple downers about the resort - our rooms reeked of this musty smell - I had read of this smell in previous reviews, but thought people were making a big deal out of it. I was wrong - it is very strong and very annoying. We burned incense like it was going out of style and still the smell persisted. One day it was so bad it actually smelled like urine. GROSS!!!Also, if you do not turn your towels in to the towel control place by 8:00pm they will charge your room $30 a towel. Not kidding. Luckily we remembered right at 8:00pm and asked the guy and he took it off our bill. They hadn't mentioned that fee when we checked the towels out, I guess you were just supposed to know.The resort is not very well lit at night, unfortunately, as it is very beautiful. We saw torches lining the water, but they were never lit the entire time we were there.
