South Seas

When I booked my reservation at the South Seas, I was sure that I had found paradise: A Tiki bar right alongside a pool that overlooks the beach. Well, that''s close to reality. The pool doesn''t quite OVERLOOK the beach, but it is right up against it, and unfortunately, I must sadly admit that the Tiki bar didn''t make very good drinks. If you want them tasty or strong, have your drinks elsewhere, because they were weak and uninteresting, which is quite a crime in the world of umbrella drinks, if you ask me.

That said, this hotel is located right where you want to be, and the price is right for this neck of the beach. I HIGHLY suggest that you seek out a hotel around 17th Street because so much neat stuff is nearby. You can walk easily to the booming house music that pervades the more southern South Beach. You can easily take in a movie at the one movie theatre in SoBe and there are outstanding walking restaurants and good people watching venues just a shell''s throw away.

I would stay at South Seas again; I would just have my expectations a little lower on the pool and its amenities. Everything is clean. Complementary bottled water in the room, complementary continental breakfast and even a free welcome drink are all included in the accommodations, so not too bad a deal at all.
