This resort is fairly small and quiet in the Port Royal Plantation section of Hilton Head. The two-bedroom unit was spacious and beautifully decorated, clean, with a view of the outdoor swimming pool. Although we went there in the winter and the weather was a bit uncooperative, my husband was able to enjoy himself on the area golf courses. A day trip to Savannah (50 miles away) was delightful. We dined at great local restaurants and had fabulous meals at the Kingfisher & Prescotts. Stacks was exceptional as was the Smokehouse (best BBQ ribs ever), and the Sea Shack!! Highly recommend this resort!

This is a very nice updated resort. From reviews I had read, they did some major updating of the resort and the units. They were very nice and had everything we needed for our week. The staff were excellent and they had plenty of stuff going on everyday from wine and cheese get together on Monday, Movie nights, and Casino Night on Friday.
We attended the timeshare points update presentation, very low pressure. Since we already had both points and weeks we did not buy. However, we were treated well by the sales staff. We were given a bunch of stuff for attending - a Free Savannah tour that was a $100 value as well as $50 in dinner certificates to use at local restaurants. We were only about 45 minutes from Savannah and well worth the trip. We also visited Tybee Island and the light house.
As for the HH Island - it is laid out in Plantations - each one is a planned community all by itself. Most of them are private, gated communities. Most of the "attractions" are on Sea Pines Plantation. The Lighthouse and Marina were worth the trip. Sea Pines charges a $5 fee for a day pass. This is great place to play golf. The temperature in January was high 50's. The beaches are very nice, however, most of the timeshares are not right on the beach. Our unit was 1.5 miles from the beach.
There are several groceries stores to chose and a small mall. The signage is not very good, however they place a high priority on the natural beauty of the landscape.

Best Things Nearby:
Water, Savannah, Charleston, golf

Best Things About the Resort:
Clean, comfortable, relaxing

Resort Experience:
The resort, island, and surrounding areas are just beautiful. The people in the resort and area are so friendly. It was convenient to grocery stores and shopping malls (both regular and outlets). They had a lot of places to play golf and other activities. The water was withing walking distance from the resort and also had three golf courses. It is about 30 minutes to Savannah and about an hour from Charleston. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone.

Best Things Nearby:
The local fresh fish and seafood stands are good. Savannah, Georgia is just 45-minute drive, and the beach is less than a mile away.

Best Things About the Resort:
The best things are the heated pool, friendly staff, huge units with screened balconies that have a ceiling fan, and a HUGE Jacuzzi tub in the master bath with 10 jets.

Resort Experience:
The resort is undergoing renovations, which did not in anyway affect our vacation. The unit I had was scheduled to be remodeled after our stay. However, the quality was great. The furniture showed some normal wear, but was acceptable, and in fact, it is scheduled to be replaced this winter.

The staff was very friendly and assisted us in having a peaceful and unobtrusive vacation. They provided us with a lot of information regarding the area and the resort. The staff also had daily activities at the resort offices (crafts, tours, kids’ activities, etc.). The beach is just a short distance and easily accessible by bicycle or car.

The resort location was great--conveniently located next to Highway 278, with easy access to the shops and many restaurants in the area. There are two large outlet malls just off the island and a Publix grocery just over a mile away from the resort.

The accommodations were not what we expected. The villa was dirty upon arrival to include dishes, kitchen floor (sticky), kitchen cabinets (inside-dried food, etc), carpets were stained and needed to be vacuumed, furniture was stained, eight lamps needed new lightbulbs, no lights/electric in the master bath, a living room lamp was broken, appliances were dated, there was not enough cookware, cobwebs in all of the rooms, front porch/patio were covered with spider webs/spiders/bugs (we had to dodge to get in the villa), the pool was dirty (the nets used to "clean" the pool were hanging on a fence and filled with leaves - we took a 30 minute walk to the next resort's pool), no routine maintenance was (obviously) performed, which is sad - the place was probably beautiful when it was new. Maintenance personnel did fix the lights, etc (my question being how did it get like that to begin with and why did no one report it) and the contracted housekeepers were called in, however they were oppositional and complained the whole time they attempted fixed the cleaning problems (I ended up asking them to leave and did it myself). We had our 10-month-old grandson with us and found out that we would have to rent a crib and a high chair ($20 each) from a rental agency.

We were informed by an "Islander" that Island Links owned by Epic had gone bankrupt and was now up for auction, therefore any and all maintenance issues were tossed by the wayside. Staff reported that they were always unsure if paychecks would be received.

We did make the best of what we had and we did have a wonderful time on the island. Front desk clerk Donyale Bolden was very accommodating and helped us store our luggage after having car trouble and extending our stay on the Island via a motel. An RCI Guide (I apologize for not getting his name) was also very helpful in resolving our dilemma with the resort and helping us locate a motel on the island (for our extended stay!).
