Best Things Nearby:
Beach, Sawgrass and Palm Beach Malls, and Los Olas Boulevard

Best Things About the Resort:
Peace and quiet and lots of golf

Resort Experience:
We enjoyed our stay from beginning to end. The Riverwalk at Los Olas Boulevard is a nice way to spend an evening. For the adventuresome, visit Miami's South Beach.

We stayed at the Fairways at Palm Aire, which is inland a bit in Pompano Beach. It is about a 30-minute drive to the beach because of the all the stop and go traffic. But the beach is located at another Fairfield Resort and is quite nice.

The resort is not in a very nice part of town. The nearby WalMart and the grocery store were staffed by persons who seemed inattentive and less than enthusiastic. However it was nice to have them close by. I would not feel comfortable in this area alone at night. The security at the resort is a good as can be expected without making you feel like you are in a prison.

I knew from reading other reviews to ask for one of the high-rise tower buildings inside the gated area. Although we were not originally scheduled for one of those units, the front desk moved us without protest. We had a sixth floor unit in the center building; that meant from either side you would get a view of a pool. The unit was beautiful. It was very clean and nicely furnished. The living room was not huge, but there was a large kitchen and eating area in addition. One small patio came off the living room. The master bedroom was very nice sized with a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom and a separate large shower. The smaller bedroom was also quite large, with two double beds and room for a chair and lot of floor space. There were three TVs. The resort provided large pool towels and plenty of bath towels.

My main complaint was that there was NO maid service at all for the whole week. If you wanted clean towels, you had to gather your dirty ones, take them to the lobby downstairs and trade them in. This service was only at one specific time during the week. If you missed it, too bad. I complained and did get clean pool towels. On the upside, there was a washer and dryer in the unit and the resort provided laundry soap as well as the soaps needed in the kitchen.

There were activities scheduled every day for children, most for a very nominal charge. Don’t miss the wild animal show, but for heaven’s sake don’t stop by to look at the animals without paying your $5.00; the staff makes you feel like a criminal just because you are curious. But the kids loved the show and it was worth the price for them. The main pool had a slide and floating devices, as well as other water toys to play with. The hot tubs were large and not crowded.

Best Things Nearby:
Fort Lauderdale. I never get tired of this place. There is so much to do. The beach is fabulous. The main drag on the beach with all the restaurants is always exciting. There is plenty of parking. There are biking/jogging paths. Visit the Riverwalk for more restaurants.

Best Things About the Resort:
The resort was self-contained. Next to each building there was a pool, some bigger than others. Although we didn't participate in any organized events, there did seem to be something happening every day.

Resort Experience:
Fairways at Palm Aire is a Gold Crown resort. At first we were put in the Queen Palm building. It is older and outside the gates. We found it to be adequate to our needs. However, one of the TVs didn't work well. The staff was very prompt and courteous. We were moved to the Areca Palm building (inside the gates). The new room was twice the size of the other. The one-bedroom unit had a walk-in bathroom with a huge walk-in shower stall and a whirlpool tub in the corner of the bedroom. There was a washer and dryer combo next to the small bathroom just inside the front door. It was just very nice even if the balconies did overlook the Winn Dixie and never got any sun!

The resort gave out coupons for some restaurants, which we used. We didn't use the spa or the fitness room, but we did schedule use of the clay tennis court. Driving to the tennis club makes you realise just how big the place is – it’s not just timeshares, but condos and houses too.

Pompano Harness Track is right across the road. We didn't go this time, but I have been there on two previous occasions. I enjoy a small flutter and find it very entertaining. Winn-Dixie and Wal-Mart are very close, which is convenient. The beach at Pompano is good with lots of lifeguards. The Pier has a good restaurant and the Holiday Inn has a good one too.

Best Things Nearby:
The beach is a short drive from this resort. Directly across the street is a grocery store, small restaurant, and Blockbuster Video, which are very convenient.

Best Things About the Resort:
We go here once a year to stay in the four-bedroom penthouse. As I said before, I especially love all the sliding glass doors that lead out to two huge balconies. There are two four-bedroom penthouses and two two-bedroom penthouses, I believe. The next building is under construction and will have additional penthouse units.

Resort Experience:
Obviously, it has four bedrooms, two of which are master suites with king beds and adjoining bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs and separate ceramic showers. The living room has a large TV with VCR/DVD player. There is a large leather sofa. There are TVs and VCRs in all the bedrooms. The dining area has a very large table. The living room, dining, and kitchen area are all open. The kitchen has microwave, oven, dishwasher, coffee pot, blender, refrigerator with icemaker, etc. There are two additional bedrooms which both have two double beds. One of these bedrooms has the bath adjoining the bedroom and the other bedroom, the bath is in the hallway. There is also a laundry room off the hall. Plenty of closet space.

There are two swimming pools with a third being built. They are supposed to be known for the golf and spa at this resort but I have not used either. There is also a workout room and game room.

The only negative I would say is that there were numerous things that other guests did that were I felt unsafe and disruptive. Examples would be the unit down the hall where the children ran all over the resort with no parental supervision and the noise coming out of their unit was ridiculous. The children were running around the four-bedroom model across the hall from us and turning the stereo up in the model full blast. I saw a guy pushing chairs into the pool late at night. You can see a lot from the penthouse balcony. Two other guys were using the entire pool area as their own personal football field during the day and after pool hours. The security could really use to be stepped up at this resort. Everyone has a right to go on vacation but when some people infringe on other people’s vacations with things such as I have mentioned I do not think that is right. I felt the security at this resort was very lax. I have only mentioned a few of the things I witnessed on this trip. I called for security numerous times but they always came too late. Oh, did I mention the morning when we were walking out of our building towards the pool area and there was watermelon, cantaloupe, banana peels, and grapes thrown all over the brick walkway leading to the pool. Someone must have thrown these food items off one of the balconies during the night. I do not understand why some people do not realize that it is up to all of us to take care of the units and amenities at these resorts because bottom line it affects us all with increases in maintenance fees!!!!!!

Best Things About the Resort:
One of the best things about this timeshare is that it is very close to the I-95, giving you great access to everything up and down the coast.

Resort Experience:
The resort is great. The main room in our two bedroom unit had a jacuzzi bath. Both bathrooms are rather big. There is plenty of space to put your clothes away. The rooms have both a washer and dryer. Try and get an upper level floor and also one that overlooks the pool, otherwise your view is pretty dismal.

For entertainment there is a pool, gym, and also miniture golf (aka putt-putt).

For an additional fee on-site, there is a spa. Take advantage and get a massage, some aromatherapy, body treatment, waxing, and just plain pamper yourself.
